* We also get a glimpse of Garling, fighting Whitebeard

* Then Somers hits Gaban hard

* In an extremely epic double page, we see Rocks staring at Imu

* We finally know what both of them look like (they seem to be related and both resemble Blackbeard)

It's weird, as emo as part 2 gets, I think its really part 1 that feels the most gritty, at least for me.
Neji and Gaara is almost darker then Pain and Obito because they're just legit kids with so much trauma, as opposed to like, 30 something terrorists.

Yeah 100%. Their innocence and inexperience vs the more grounded, simplistic but "realistic" and "relatable" brutal reality, the horrors of actual war and such.

Early post timeskip started off well especially when Asuma faced Hidan and was brutally killed, thus giving us tension, stakes and a reality check.

The series got much worse post timeskip for me, like one piece but there are some things both series do better post TS ofc.
