I'd even say that Imu is the same earth god in the 1st world war but it took a different identity as the forest god at the second war when Imu possessed the king of one of the ancient kingdoms.

I think this entity will wait for the next ultimate vessel which is Blackbeard to fuse with him, becoming the powerful earth god like in the 1st war, if not even stronger.

I actually wouldn't mind that happening at all. But personally I don't want Majin Teach. I want Teach to be a god tier from his own hard work.

Gaban sliced through Sommers weapon and himself, rendering his regeneration useless or to the point when Sommers is struggling to regenerate again.

It's clear Oda gave him the usual treatment like the other old legends since a hostage situation was used to take him out, rather than letting Gaban be directly beaten by Imu.

Dude has ACoC, FS + top tier stats - it doesn't matter how Sommers ultimately recovered when Gaban can easily finish him off in every encounter. 10/10 it's low diff at worst.

In fact, I can certainly say that BB is the reincarnation of the earth god - or at least part of earth god's soul resides within BB. So it's just Evil Buu taking over Fat Buu, becoming Super Buu.
