Or it shows being pirate King =/= needing to be the strongest or at least rogers version
The thing is, Roger’s version of becoming pirate king might even be more strength-related than Luffy’s. Every other legend revered his strength and called him unstoppable. Chinjao literally said that to become Pirate King is to conquer the sea of conquerors. Where’d you think he got that idea from? — That’s right, from Roger. If Roger doesn’t prove he’s the top dog in strength, the narrative for him is a failure. So far, all Oda is showing is Roger’s mediocrity. The only thing left to show narrative coherence is by having Roger beat Xebec.

Even excluding imu.
If we exclude Imu i wouldnt bet on it.
I know oda say the Pirate king is "freest" pirate but if you look at how kaido or even don chinjao talk about what it means to be that they always talk about roger clapping everyone, same with Luffy
It would be very weird if it doesnt mean he wasnt the strongest pirate unless oda makes it clear Lodger didnt grew stronger after GV if he truely is weaker than xebec, a fellow pirate

That means he got the title basiacly by him dying per proxy

It's the opposite

Like we've seen what Roger did to become pirate King he didn't beat any of his rivals

Kaido chinjao mihawk ultimately don't know what Roger did so there comments are pretty meaningless on the matter
At least luffy is fighting and "beating" people for it.

So where does all of this Roger gas come from? Chinjao knew what he was talking about since he had a name for himself. Even if you don’t consider him a valid source, what about all the other top-tiers that gassed Roger up? Kaido called him the pinnacle; Shiki went on a suicide mission since he can’t fathom Roger losing; Sengoku confidently said that Roger will beat Shiki; Whitebeard was hyped up as “Roger’s equal”, twice — once during his introduction and the second one was during his death.

This is precisely why Oda has to show Roger get a huge W, bingo on Xebec. He’s been making Roger look mediocre all around lately when his narrative is above that.

I think also its unlikely but Ha0 is right in that its not impossible
did you ever read naruto?
The most gased hokage was minato and when we see him in the final arc finally fight with the others, lets say he was not in fact the most gased hokage :josad:

I been saying this for like 6 years on here
Need to find my old posts on this

Its all based on THE PERCEPTION of Roger that they see (sure he's strong) but the perception has him clear of everyone bar primebeard but even shines brighter

Oden who knew both personally has wb as the benchmark for the world showing how small he was for strength specifically

Roger he says has more charisma

what even is this series anymore?
Randomly watching Kensuke's Kingdom on TV, a very sad, extremely beautiful, picturesque and nuanced film.

It also has Freaky Peaky Blinders and Oppen Heimer Style himself Cillian Murphy and Ken Watanabe in it! Given a certain plot reveal too, it feels a little ironic to have Cillian in it.

Based on a novel and it's immensely Studio Ghibli style, I really cannot recommend it enough.

I predicted a twist but the story and voice acting are very good anyway, it's a profound film with a lot of heart and an easy watch. Gets quite upsetting in places but there are so many wonderful, sweet, endearing, powerful moments.

I also just watched Renfield before it and that was way better than I expected. Too OTT on the gore and violence but brilliant acting and writing, especially from Nicolas Cage in his element as Dracula and thus some of his best work and some of the other cast were great especially Renfield too.

A wonderfully brilliant satire and thus dissection, deconstruction of narcissistic abuse and codependency traps.

2 brilliant films back to back, completely different to one another in every way but emotionally nourishing and challenging.

Should probably post this in the last movie you watched thread but eh fuck it.

I've not got much energy due to certain IRL problems/drama so I will be a lot less active and responsive than usual anyway.

Feeling very defeated and exhausted due to my family as usual. Just praying I can move house one day and almost permanently escape their bullshit.

Dodger was a charisma merchant, it's over
Who the fuck up came with dodger i didnt even clock in it was Rodger Nickname lastweek first time reading it :josad:
BRUH, I NEVER EXPECTED ONE OF MY FAVOURITE CHILDHOOD COMICS TO GET A WHOLE NEW PERSPECTIVE ON IT NOW:

Will of Dennis the Menace incoming lmao.

Where do you think does this perception come from? These are words coming from all of the top dogs of the past. All of them have a history with Roger in one way or another. The thing that ties all of this narrative buildup together is when they see it firsthand. God’s Valley is the perfect setup, all of the strong are gathered in one place. If they see Roger beat Xebec, their captain and ultimate powerhouse, then it justifies all those hype statements sprinkled throughout the story. A huge portion of the Rocks crew is Xebec winning them by force as well. It looks like Oda is going all-in to build him up as this king of the seas figure. The next step is to have Roger beat him to pass down the torch.

Roger is a much bigger figure for the OP world than Minato. He’s more similar to the first hokage but put it on roids.
