He did show some regret whilst bringing Zephyr down, even though he emoted way less than in EH. Maybe he never had as close of a bond with Z as Kuzan did, especially since Zephyr admitted to never liking him much iirc.
On a different note, Z-Zaru was also noted by Zephyr to be more of a DF focused fighter who should've focused more on his haki.

Aye that makes sense. I suspected Kuzan might be playing a role similarly to Zephyr in the canon story instead funnily enough and this would lead to a clash between Kizaru and Kuzan at Egghead (RIP that theory).
Yeah definitely, I suppose in a way, he can understand what Kuzan felt at Ohara now too. The man of light is truly experiencing the real darkness of the WG firsthand now. I don't think the "gravity" of what he does has really hit him until now where he had to try and take down hiw own beloved nephew and his best friends and the child daughter of one of them too.
If Z was a story arc, I think we would have seen more of a conflicted Kizaru like in Egghead, especially if Zephyr was their trainer in canon or whatever and thus he had that personal relationship with Zephyr then but yeah as you said, Zephyr was more deliberate, aware of what he was doing and more malicious. He was trying to destroy the world and wipe out millions of civilians regardless, no better than all the "evil pirates" especially the worst ones ofc.
