What was the last movie you watched?

The Fugitive (1993) with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones.

9/10.

A really well-written thriller film, one of the best movies for both actors, and one of Ford's best performances alongside Witness, with him being amazint at playing that doctor grieving his wife and traumatized by her murder, and his desperation and resourcefulness in trying to prove his innocence; while Tommy Lee Jones is awesome at playing a competent, often harsh but still very human policeman (yes I know he's an US Marshal in the film, but you know what I mean) in his hunt for Ford's character and then attempt to help and protect him and sympathy after learning his innocence.

Great film! In my top 50. There is actually a spin off film with Tommy Lee Jones' character called "US Marshalls" which is decent as well.

Last one I think was 28 years (that new zombie movie)

I think I liked the concept more than execution tbh. Wordbuilding is great imo, well, within the small area we got to see at least. Acting is really nice. I'm not a fan of these rapid effects choice tbh. Feels more like a cutscene in video game than regular movie. Plot itself isn't anything amazing either imo. I think there was a chance to make it much better movie if they just tried to tell different story while keeping the setting, idk.

Also i despite the ending. Ending scene I mean. Are they planning to make it into a series or sth? I know it ties back to the opening scene and all but what for, really.

I watched Weapons, and it's my favorite film I've seen in theaters this year. The multi-POV chapter style was engaging and flowed cohesively to unfold the horror-mystery of the obscure events. It ultimately wrapped up in an unexpectedly comical yet satisfying way.

The director and writer, Zach Cregger, also created the horror-thriller Barbarian back in 2022. He seems to be hitting his stride in the horror genre.

Weapons - 9/10 - Great horror movie! I loved the multiple POVs, which didn't affect the pace of the film at all. It's quite funny, but also tense and bizarre most of the time.
It's much better than Barbarian, which is also directed by this guy.

I also heard that he is making the Resident Evil reboot, which makes me happy as he seems much better than the awful Paul W. S. Anderson.

28 Years Later – 5/10

The first half is great, but the drama between the son and mother ruins it, It falls completely, especially the ending, which was completely bizarre. My problem with this film is that it didn't feel like part of the 'Years Later' franchise, but just a generic zombie film.

If you don't like the Years Later franchise or have never watched it, I think you'll enjoy this movie more, but as a fan of the franchise, I really didn't like it at all.

Boyz n the Hood (1991)

The black community back then must have been post-apocalyptic because the life of someone who has a tremendous amount of potential (debatable but he played football like a champ) can be taken away at a moment's notice just because one of his buddies decided to stand up for his friend group against some other gang members after those other gang members bumped and walked away without an apology.

Oh, and in the opening scene at the school you got elementary school kids slinging profanities and starting fights that could easily get suburban kid suspended for a week in high school.

Break weeks breaking me bad.
I Wasn't trying to argue with you mate, sorry if it came across that way. I understand your points and I'll leave the conversation about this film there.
Nah you're all good dude, sorry for being so snappy and defensive there, I think I had a mood swing or something. an Almighty fuck up on my part, pun intended lol.

Thank you though I really appreciate it. I'll give your perspective a chance and I'll check the film out. I'm planning to pop cinema soon for a day out so I'll go see it.

I just watched Dead Like Me: Life After Death randomly as it's leaving Prime Video soon and I've been meaning to watch the series it's based on for years as I love stories and concepts like these most of all.

Long story short, very emotional, beautiful and bittersweet film as i hoped. Was a bit messy in places but it had some shocking moments for the right reasons, heartfelt acting and writing too. The protagonist and her sister were especially great, I'm totally crushing on the main actress too. Gorgeous, sexy woman with a beautiful smile and one of raspy voices that makes me melt. Very charming and convincing actress.

The film actually had me tearing up by the end, it has such a beautiful ending, not quite what I wanted but still lovely. I've not seen the TV series so I can't compare it but I definitely enjoyed the film.

The supporting cast were pretty good too, I liked them a lot. Some pretty funny, dark humour moments including the ashes of a poor dead kitty getting launched into space by rocket....his owner is a truly eccentric, extremely cat lover who took him skydiving just before he died as she knew he was dying and tried to give him the best days of his life before he bit the dust.

It's a very eccentric film with a lot of heart and dark humour, exactly my perfect combination in life for most things really. (See my fondness of Jinx and Perona too.)

There was a really profound scene of the main character seeing another fellow grim reaper unexpectedly....a mere little girl only. Died incredibly young and now is a reaper for others who died too, truly dark and sad. She's revealed by petting the cat to grant it a chance to move on to heaven as it dies.

The main actress and her younger sister really felt like genuine blood related sisters fighting and being awkward with one another. One of the shocking moments is said younger sister trying to commit suicide as the grief of losing her sister the (main protagonist), their dad being a deadbeat who went to have another family instead, her "secret boyfriend" dying, who also secretly loved her without her knowing ironically too, her feeling worthless, unloved by everyone including her older sister (the MC was shitty to her as children and their mother is kinda a problem too) and thus everything else got too much for her.

The MC also had a really moving, insightful speech about her heart being like a clock and not underestimating the irreplaceable value of the ones you love and love you in life. Both the writing and delivery by the actress really impressed me.

There also was a lovely comic book style intro and outro for the movie too.

The movie also reminded me of Pushing Daisies a lot too, a spectacular, whimsical, absurd, feel good, mystery heavy series with tons of charm, wholesomeness, eccentricity, colours and humour. Also phenomenal singing by the superhuman talented Kristin Chenoweth too.

Superman (2025): first 30 minutes were quite bad. Then it gets better.

Superman is kinda weak, I thought it was because he was trying to restrain himself and not do too much damage (that was one of the critics made for the Snyder movies) but no, he's just weak.

I liked Mr Terrific and Lex Luthor. Not so much Lois Lane and Hawkgirl (her screams were ridiculous lol).

Overall better than I expected, okayish movie I'd say.

"Civil War" (2024) - 5/5

A brutal look at War journalism and how it desensitizes you to the world around you. I actually appreciate Garland not getting into the politics of it all and just giving little hints of dialogue as to how it all went to shit. Kirsten Dunst is excellent as well as Wagner Moura and Cailee Spaeny.
Jesse Plemons steals the movie though with his one brief scene that is a horrifying reminder of the depravity of some people and how they can take advantage of a War to commit atrocities.

The film ends with one of my fav last scenes of a film. Its well worth checking out but understand its a arthouse piece on War Journalism
