I liked it, the CP-9 were amazing villains and powerful assets to the WG. Rob Lucci was lauded by the Buster Call Vice Admirals as a prodigy, it didn't made sense to just dump him (especially when Spandam was the one blaming him for everything). He was akin to a top Supernova.

Maybe the thing that I'd change was the previous CP-0 members. I'd make at least one of them stronger than Lucci, it looked like they were weaker than the CP-9.

I dont mind it, I just wish he saw how they did it and why did they get a promoted to CP0

Maybe they defeated the former CP0 members and took their spots?
There are other CP-0 members (Stussy, Guernika, Maha, Joseph and Gismonda), so I doubt that was it. I think that they just became strong enough to join the CP-0 (kinda like when a marine gets promoted).

What did you first think when it was revealed that the Former Members of the CP9 had become members of CP0?

Especially after their Cover Story about them leaving the World Government after being blamed for the Enies Lobby incident. And do you think their story could have gone in a different direction? Rather than them just
going back to being Assassin for the WG?
Lazy Oda can’t create new characters

I hated it after what happened to them and their amazing cover story. Just felt forced and for fanservice. Lucci and co should have gone under Kaido. And thus no need for stupid Who's Who nonsense.

CP0 has been such an overwhelming letdown in many ways.

Oda even admitted he didn't intend to bring back any of cp9 except lucci and kaku for cp0 but since toei brought back kalifa and blueno in Film Red as cp0 agents, oda was annoyed and forced to bring them back in cp0 canonically as well.

I love the cp9, one of my favourite factions and thus group of villains in one piece and their cover story turned them into anti heroes and gave them a bit of redemption and nuance, as they were betrayed and hunted by the WG and framed by them. They saved innocent people's lives from pirate attacks (candy pirate crew I think) and were doing circus shows, which showed another wonderfully funny and goofy side to them, as well as humanising them surprisingly.

Bringing lucci and kaku back like this with awakenings was kind of insulting, especially kaido and big mom had no awakening and nor any beast pirates but these 2 pre TS villains got it?!

Kakus awakening wasn't even relevant, he should have had a rematch with zoro and zoro being wise to his fighting style and vice versa but kakus awakening making him the reason Zoro gets stalled and can't easily just win and put him down, one shot him like the impel down awakened guards.

Jinbei should have faced lucci as who's who was "luccis rival" and lucci being obviously superior especially with awakening no, could have given us a serious all fight for Jinbei.

Or keep zoro vs lucci but have sanji fight kaku in an all out fight. Fuck man Egghead was such a mess to the extreme especially with the Gorosei too.

Lucci and Drake could have had interesting interactions and thus lucci being the one to betray and try to kill Drake if they were both under Kaido too. Kaido's whole philosophy with the darwinist/survival of the fittest attitude suits luccis beliefs perfectly too. he could truly be himself and be as bloodthirsty as he likes without the WG potentially holding him back.

(I just realised I'm putting Jinbei over Zoro here after Wano too which is a HUGE fuck up ofc lmao. Oops! I'm gonna get shredded, sliced and diced by Zoro fans for this now. Banned from the temple, exiled, on a permanent exodus etc.

My ideas weren't based on powerscaling but actually character history and such. I hate anything being done for powerscaling reasons really, sacrilege to say that here I know. /s)

Lucci was always my most hated villain. Glad to know he’s worse than Crocodile now and worse than Dolflamingo.

It makes sense with their characters. They’re psychopaths. It’s smarter to do that with government permission rather than with the government chasing you

Crocodile and Doflamingo are infinitely superior characters and villains to him definitely. Their defeats and fights were more satisfying too.

They ads more interesting, compelling, charismatic, badass, braver, funnier, better looking etc lol.

I think lucci is cool but not amazing. I prefer who he was before the big cp9 Mr Reloaded style reveal and betrayal.

I liked to see them again, but its a plot hole that it was never explained properly how did we get from the last Cover Story of CP9 to them appearing again as CP0 in Dressrosa

It was explained on SBS Vol. 109:

D: Hello Oda! I am writing to you from France because I would like to know how the members of CP9 joined CP0. Good luck! P.N. CATELA Valentin

O: Yes, the Japanese is a bit weird because of the translation lol. I've included it as-is. Let's go back to when CP9 lost at Enies Lobby. From there, CP9's Independent Report was serialized on the covers, and CP9 was accused of failing their mission. Director Spandam took advantage of that, so CP9 vanished into the wind. That was beginning of their training to become even stronger. Meanwhile, Spandam somehow became the head of CP0 through the influence of his father, Spandine. Then, Lucci and his friends teamed up with Spandine to uncover a criminal conspiracy by Underworld bigwigs and former Level 6 prisoners, and destroyed the organization to stop it. Due to that incident, Lucci and his friends returned to the intelligence service as CP0 agents. Spandine later fell sick lost much of his influence, causing Spandam to be demoted to Lucci's underling.

Yes,i remembered this Sbs,but thats why i used the term "proper" explanation, because this one is kinda random lol
First of all,its just on the Sbs and has no references ever in dialogues in the manga,so,even if it is surely canon,as it was stated by Oda, people who watch only the anime or dont read to Sbs wont have any idea of this and will just see them returning and nothing else.
Also, the story is kinda weird. Lucci and co. in the last cover story promised revenge against Spandam and Spandine, who were meanwhile conspiring against Lucci and co. as well. Then,we find out in the Sbs that they help Spandine on a mission.
Cool,but..why?? Lol its so random
So even if its true that we have indeed a canon explanation,i dont find it a "proper" explanation at all
