Yes, its normal. But there is also the fact that its not as rewarding too for this series.
Yeah.. because of what I've been screaming for more an entire decade now:
If people don't find a way to manage their expectation, they won't make the difference between what they theorized and what they wanted. And so, they won't approach theorizing as a discipline, but as an confirmation bias.
Did you ever see me being mad at Oda for not bringing Carrot in the crew despite being the one who kept on theorizing about her recrutment ?
Nah. I was aware that my theory.. was just a theory. In fact despite the laughs that I got here, I tried my hardest to debunk my own theory multiple times. Which is why I was so surprised that it was proven wrong. I still believe that Oda must let Carrot go to the sea for coherency with her character, but that's all. The surprise was the cake and I welcomed it with open arms. It made me learn a lot about the story, even years after, I'm still learning from this failure to predict her recrutment. And I loved theorizing it.
But people usually tend to seek a win. They want to be right more than they want to understand the story.. so they get nothing for theorizing. It's sad, but that's how the fanbase is. The excitment of the new created the illusion of a great era of theories and understanding of the story. But it was just a warzone and too few theories really had backbones & logical structures. It was a game of guesses and agendas.
Theorizing now risk spoiling a lot to people so you will see less and less people looking at them and less and less people making them. On top of that, a large part of the fanbase accumulated disapointment and hatred because of the lost expectations and the lack of care for what the story was actually telling..
That's why you will see less and less theories until they completely disappear.
