For pretty much the sameshit, are heaven and earth apart. I dunk on Ace for that all the time, but i'm in the minority. Ace is generally percieved as a great character. Even when Sabo receives more character development (this is not something to argue over, but just a sheer objective fact) than Ace ever did, you get people trashing Sabo to bigup Ace.

Sabo was the character Oda always planned. He just used to buy some time for the eventual introduction, and have Ace serve as a semi-motivation for the two relevant brothers. Issue is the anime popularized Ace to the point where people think he's the main brother over Sabo. And of course people usually have a thing for the edgier "cool" guy pretty face, body always out etc.

One was simply a trigger for a big event and not relevant outside of that. The other is consistently interacting with the relevant world while partaking in historic events one after the other in parallel to Luffy.

Like the Linlin art is clearly Oda just being messy due to this being a weekly manga that's been running for multiple decades.
