And it resembles death in their culture too.
In Japan, the red spider lily (higanbana) symbolizes death, loss, farewell, and final goodbyes, and is often associated with the afterlife and the Buddhist festival of the equinox, though it can also represent rebirth and renewal due to the cyclical nature of death and life. Its meaning as a beautiful but ominous flower, appearing near cemeteries and grave sites, stems from both its late summer/early autumn bloom time and its poisonous nature.
Robin upscale btw, Hana Hana no mi (flower flower fruit).
Both Shakky and Gion/Momusagi have spiders on them too. "Black Widows" maybe?
Tritoma kinda reminds me of Momusagi/Gion a LITTLE too. Crocodile best mom/kuja empress/girl btw.
Robin's Awakening allowing her to create actual plant life would be interesting, like a Goddess of fertility. I made a post a while back about Robin learning "Thorns" from Sommers, by learning Shigan, and using her Grappling techniques to restrain foes, before stabbing her fingers into them repeatedly with Shigan.
But, if Robin can just... make Plant Life, she becomes Usopp's arsenal, and can Pop Green like when you light Marijuana seeds on fire accidentally.
Tritoma = Crocodile is very interesting: Tritoma "died" as far as Amazon Lily is concerned, because she became a man. Tritoma couldn't handle being scarred, and Dragon leaving her:
This is why Ivankov turned Crocodile into a man, so Tritoma could escape the Love Sickness that would kill her.
Crocodile COMPLETELY changed how he treated Luffy once he realized Luffy was Dragon's son.
Amazon Lily is where Luffy sailed from to save Croc. Where did Baroque Works operatives gather? Spider Cafe. Who did Imu mess with? Lili.
Why did Crocodile want to create Utopia? So the women of Amazon Lily could live freely without being hunted by the WG. Once Croc realized Vegapunk was building ships that could cross the Calm Line, Croc realizes Amazon Lily is no longer safe, and plans to protect it long term.
Remember the Mihawk = Shakky + Rayleigh's kid theories?
If Mihawk's mother is Shakky, who knew Tritoma, this makes sense. I think Oda would have to retcon some ages, though: Tritoma looked like a young teen 44 years ago, and Croc was born... 46 years ago.
Maybe Croc is Tritoma's little sister, and hates Dragon, because Dragon killed Tritoma, by meeting her, but abandoning her, to die of Love Sickness? Female Croc looks A LOT like Tritoma, but a bit different.
Tritoma wanted to rebel against the WG, but couldn't leave her people. Disgusted with Dragon's unwillingness to fight the WG seriously, Crocodile becomes a man, and a pirate, to take down the WG.
Momusagi is fascinating here...
The name
Tritoma is derived from the
tritoma genus of flowering plants, also known as
red hot poker or
torch lily. This genus is characterized by its red and yellow flowers, which symbolize strength and resilience. The name follows the flower-themed names of the Kuja tribe, indicating a connection to their cultural identity.
Momousagi means "Pink Rabbit". Momo = Peach/Pink. Momonosuke is also named this, because Peach/Pink refers to Wano's Sakura Blossoms. Momoiro Island is name as such, because it is Pink (IE Lady Coded) and is named "Peachy Island" in English.
In
Japanese, Gion refers to a district in Kyoto known for its traditional arts and culture, and it can also mean "silver" or "full moon".
Full Moon = Minks = Sulong, and her codename has Momo (Momonosuke) and Usagi (Rabbit) in it. The Kozuki are a Clan associated with the Moon.
Finally, Momousagi is a detective. Tsuru regards her as a little sister. Tsuru = Wano name = possible Wano origins = possible relations to Kinemon's wife O-Tsuru.
- Several aspects of Gion's character reference ozashiki asobi (お座敷遊び,?, literally "tatami room games"), which are games played with geisha in teahouses:
- Gion is said to be skilled at all of these games.[5]
- Gion's name is likely a reference to Kyoto's Gion district, which is famous for its geisha and has teahouses where ozashiki asobi are played.
- Gion's sword, Konpira, is likely named after the game called Konpira Fune Fune.
Tokikake's epithet is Chaton (Brown Pig... Mountain God reference), and Toki means In
Japanese, Toki is a gender-neutral name that can mean
“time,” “autumn,” “spring,” “season,” “triumph,” or
“dragon” depending on the kanji used, and is also the name of Kozuki Toki.
Momousagi and Tokikake are 1000% heading to Wano for the Pluton War.
Normal Kuja fans: "We want Shakky to step on us."
Ghostly and CoC: "ONE OF THESE CHICKS HAS TO BE LUFFY'S MOM, WHO THE HELL IS IT???"
