Doffy was scared for his life at the mere mention of Kaido's name (military power my ass, what a sorry deflection). He has no problem at laughing about WB's strength at MF because he had 0 intention of fighting him, hence why he asks if Mihawk is really going to do anything
But when there is real consequence with a Yonko, Kaido, he's shitting bricks about it, so if anything your panel clowning Yonko shits on Doffy even more.
Why are you people acting like Aokiji didn't allow doffy the time to break out of the ice?
And how can you maintain class with all that huffing and puffing, that exposes your clear exhaustion in the face of someone completely nonchalant.

His fear was pretty rational, he has an entire crew to look after. We´ve even seen top tier pirates get scared from characters they don´t really personally fear.
Roger was sweating at fodder marines chasing his crew, obviously not because he was afraid of personally losing to them.
And we have Kaido being afraid of Big Mom invading his territory. We have very few characters in a leadership role who would not be scared in his situation.
He doesn't need to fight him personally, WB was Damm near close to sinking MF. People across the world were scared at the idea of WB killing them, and ending the world, actually. Doffy was smiling from the begining of the war to the end.

You unironically made the argument yourself. He was afraid of an admiral level character like Tsuru chasing his crew, but was laughing in the face of Kuzan. Maybe the guy who was willing to blackmail the celestial dragons and laughed as WB stormed MF isn't personally afraid of anyone?
