Here's the deal with Big Mom. She is intentionally written as incompetent or put into scenarios that favor the protagonists, as a means to counterbalance the fact that she's a fucking Yonko, and if there wasn't some kind of medium in play, she would kill everyone on the spot, and the story would be over. You powerlevel junkies need to get that through your heads. One Piece isn't written through the perspective of strength. Oda needs to drive the narrative forward, not bring it to a screeching halt.

I firmly believe that the raid will end in failure. Oda is leading us into a false sense of security.

It's a literary device writers use all the time known as "False hope", which 10's of thousands of writers have used all throughout history. Yeah, One Piece might use it alot, but that's because it's an over 20 year old manga, with almost 1000 chapters under it's belt. There is going to be repeats of multiple literary devices because the story itself is broken down into Arcs, and with each new arc, you need to use those devices to keep the story moving. Countless of other long running mangas do the same thing, and people still don't get it.
