Brother. MF WB made Garp and Sengoku look like nobodies, to now it seems like I'm doing Garp a disservice even mentioning WB beside him. If you don't see how that is a fall off...then you're lost in the sauce.
Marineford Whitebeard was at the finale of his character arc.
He had his will hardened, fighting to save his "son" and heir apparent. He came with no intent to leave from the battlefield alive. And was the representative of one of the two main factions. Marineford was WHTIEBEARD'S arc, where he was meant to go down in a blaze of glory, ushering in a new era!!
While Garp was conflicted, distraught over his "grandson's" execution, torn between duty and family.
And more importantly from a narrative PoV, it wasn't his time yet to blaze and burn down.
Of course Whitebeard looked like he owned the arc, because it was HIS arc. It was his time to have one last hurrah before his time had expired.
Mentioning Garp alongside WB was never a disservice to him.
Roger ~ WB ~ Garp was well established around that time. If you thought it was, then like Loda says.......reading comprehension.
I will acknowledge that Sengoku should've been more impressive lol.
Nothing would match WB's aura in his own arc where he is meant to go down in a blaze of glory, but Sengoku 100% should've done more as the representative of the winning faction.
