For the 213819283th time, who do you think it's Sanji's BBP matchup?

Any area where Sanji is gonna need to improve to defeat his next opponents is a relative weakness, otherwise he wouldn't need to improve in those areas. That's just common sense. AP was already what he lacked against Queen in the beginning of the fight, and the key to defeat him was improving his AP, meaning AP was a relative weakness before he came up with IJ, just like it'll likely be a relative weakness against his next big opponent before coming up with the finisher.

Likewise, Zoro's speed and/or CoO will likely be his relative weakness against Shiryu and he'll need to improve in those areas to counter his invisibility. I don't know what's so hard to understand in the term "relative".

And if anyone thinks Sanji simply won't need greater AP to defeat his next big opponents because IJ is already enough, then I'm very curious about what they think he's gonna need. But I'm pretty sure the problem is just Sanji fanatics losing it when reading "weakness" and taking the word out of context. :kayneshrug:

The strongest / realest match ups for Sanji are Pizarro and Laffitte

Pizarro for the reasons you listed : north blue King and Germa connection, maybe red line merge and all blue being found when destroyed, can be strong enough to be the case

Laffitte : Chief of staff of the BBP, spy/intelligence of the BBP, a former cop so I can see him being in charge of « taking care » of Pudding

The rest are all way less likely (except Vasco obviously)
I still think Lafitte is the least likely option, compared to the ex-ID prisoners (minus Devon, obviously).

I already expressed my stance clearly about things like him being Chief of Staff or a spy, no point going in circles about this. But if a thing like him torturing Pudding happens, I'll do a 180 and say he's 100% Sanji's opponent because it's something that has real meaning when it comes to matchups. I'm not close-minded, I just have my specific criteria I consider relevant.

Puddings role in the BBP is to help the navigator create a map to raftel of course she’ll be tortured by a man known for torturing prisoners.

Also the BBP fights aren’t going to be about getting stronger they’ll br about winning while handicapped cause the BBP can weaken their straw hat opponents.

Lafitte isn't officially known for torturing prisoners, he was just described as a violent sheriff. I'm pretty sure there's no torture mentioned in his backstory, that's something you added to give credit to your take (which is fine as long as it's a theory, but you can't present this as a fact). And all the BBPs are known for their violence and cruelty, it's not specific to Lafitte. They're all sadistic psychopaths.

If you tell me his past as a policeman might hint at him using twisted interrogation tactics in the past (therefore he's likely to do it with Pudding), I'll say that's an interesting idea that could materialize, but that's not factual.

The crew always get stronger in major battles, that was true pre-TS and still true post-TS. I see no reason to assume it's not gonna happen against the ultimate villainous pirate crew they'll have to defeat to claim the One Piece.

Honestly what stands out the most for how likely is Pizarro a Sanji opponent lies in the fact that he is already sharing a dynamic (and some parallels if i could call it that way) with Shyriu, who is obviously fighting Zoro

I have a thread about Pizarro being Sanji's matchup btw

Honestly my wet dreams are Sanji vs Aokiji or Sanji vs Lafitte, but i don't hate Sanji vs Pizarro as long as Oda keeps making him stronger and with cool abilities, unfortunately we don't make the rules, its all on Oda

His backstory specifically states “excessive and unnecessary cruelty towards prisoners” which is torture. So much so he got exiled by an entire ocean.

All BBP are known for cruelty, but only one will actually need to get information from Pudding and that’s Lafitte.

They’ll get stronger by having to win with a handicap. Luffy won’t have free use of his fruit, Zoro likely won’t have all his swords since his opponent is able to hide them, Sanji will likely be weakened similarly. Pizarro just doesn’t fit that role as his powers don’t offer any challenge outside of “hit harder” which is never the main story of Sanjis fights.

Didn't Shiryu do that same thing?

I'm pretty sure it was just said he was a cruel sheriff who was violent with citizens. I don't remember any mention of prisoners. Maybe I'm wrong and if you have a source that proves your claim, I'll admit my mistake.

Obviously Sanji vs Kuzan is any Sanji fan's wet dream, including myself, but I think there's no chance in hell Kuzan is genuinely on BB's side. BB is a really smart guy and he's likely aware of his bs, he's just using him.

Vivre Card specifically says his “brutal and sadistic tendencies towards prisoners”

Oh, I didn't know about his VC, thanks. Then that's actually a good and meaningful point in his favor because that's foundation for potential narrative significance later (if he does torture Pudding).
Yeah the narrative imo is clear. The demon sheriff Navigator trying to force pudding to read the poneglyph (which she physically can’t do yet) making her a damsel for Sanji to save

Been on the Burgess train since day one and I'm still betting on the Strong Strong wrestler.
Lafitte would be cool too with the aerial battle and all.
Pizarro meh, but Sanji is probably the only mugi beside Luffy and Zoro to possibly have island level attack to destroy an island man, so it's a solid option too.

The thing with Pizarro is if he doesn't fight Sanji, I have no idea whom he could fight. The only other one who fits is Franky imo, but Franky vs Wolf makes more sense.
Coby. The Hero saving the Slaves from the Corrupt King who is specifically in charge of the slave camps he was held in is clear. Especially since Pizarro was the reason Garp stayed behind to be captured while the rest got free.
