I think it’s very likely that the guy Silver Axe is fighting here is in fact Marco’s dad.

My primary reason for thinking this is simply this. Oda has shown repeatedly shown the meeting of the captain and his right hand man, and the formation of major pirate crews.

We saw Roger and Rayleigh’s meeting
Big Mom and Streusen
Kaido and King

We haven’t really seen this for the WBP. We saw WB and Oden, but WB had already formed his crew by then.

Given how God Valley is basically the start of WB’s solo career as a pirate, I’m guessing Oda will touch on the start of the WBP in this flashback. Hence Silver Axe vs the Marco clone. That probably is his dad, a member of the holy knights.

My guess is WB saved Marco in GV, ultimately leading to the two forming the WBP afterward.

I think that guy is almost certainly Marco’s dad, but I think it’s more likely he’s a pirate than a CD. He’s in the panel about it being a pirate war zone and we know that it wasn‘t just Rocks and Roger, loads of crews showed up to fight at God’s Valley.

If he is a HK, it could allow Oda to bring back Marco for the final war.

Whitebeard meeting his firstmate wasn't shown in the story, because Marco isn't Whitebeards first mate proper. He was just an apprentice who rose up in the ranks and eventually became his top commander, but Oden was closer to what his proper right hand would be like. I am genuinely not sure why you think his dad would be a HK though...

Fair, but that's more how the world sees it.
Right Hand in general is not the proper term. Whether it be Right/Left Hand or Wings the proper title is moreso Vice Captain or First mate. Marco's official rank is 1st Commander. Only within the crew do they know the number isn't meant to represent hierarchy or strength.
