Well it's hard not to bring up this side character that completely took over the arc with no abilities while a top tier fruit like the gas fruit was headlining it.

Vergo is the definition of "he's just built different" there's no nuance with him he's just that guy because he is. How is he such a machine with no df or advanced haki? No one knows. It was at a time Oda wanted to focus on the new world and armament haki, mix that with Oda wanting to pay homage to the terminator and you got Vergo. We will never see anything like this again in One Piece. Lightning in a bottle situation. That's why his feats and presence still hold up to this day, he logically should not have been that strong.

I'm not really into that but what I basically meant is how you criticize Imu for his lack of characterization while you somehow turn a blind eye to Kaido's attrocious execution as a character. That simply isn't adding up lol

@ZenZu I am wondering. Removing oxygen knocked out Smoker, yet Enel traveled through outer space and explored the moon, no oxygen needed. You might argue it was due to Tashigi being in Smoker's body and not being fully adapted to being a Logia. You could also say it's an inconsistency, but given how much explored Enel's voyage was, that's too much to be a mere inconsistency.

They're in the same tier. You could argue gas is better because of its overall versatility. Gas is a top tier logia so by default it is in tier 1 of dfs. A high tier logia is already a top tier fruit overall, a top tier logia is like a top 5 fruit in the verse by default.

he will be able to absorb oxygen just like he can already absorb nutrients. Oda will not fail to expand upon Greenbull already using photosynthesis and not needing to eat

Who would thought Oda would be able to manage multiple top tiers fighting each other and deliver it well.

Makes multiple toptiers fight one guy instead who instantly regen again.
Less time consuming, no choreography needed and simplest method to do a bigscale battle involving high calibre characters.

Kaido is a miles better as a character

How? Kaido is objectively a very badly written character. People can like him for his feats, his appearance, his monstrosity and brutality - that's something which I enjoyed reading in Wano when he was shown to be completely cruel to his enemies - or other reasons but man, it isn't an overstatement to claim Oda doesn't know how to write Kaido at all. He's about "The strongest wins" but then cheap shots his enemies and doesn't grant them another chance (Lolden and the recent one when he sneak attacked Big Mom to get the dragon fruit). Then he wants to die... but does nothing seriously to achieve his goal? He saw all Haki monsters virtually doing nothing to Imu, yet he believes Haki still rules the world? How is that even possible at this point? And his "top 5 ceiling" thing... Come on, Imu arguably solos them all without blinking an eye, yet he wasn't included in his list? How?

I wish Kaido got the same kind of characterization like Doflamingo or even fucking Big Mom, before she turned into an entire joke in Wano, but Oda simply fucked it up big with Kaido. At this point, I just wish Kaido was written like Frieza or Cell - antagonists who are simply evil for the lolz. People nowadays do not like these kind of villains that much but honestly... I don't dislike this at all. A reason why I believed Gargling had high potential, until Oda sacrificed him for Imu's hypetool, lol.

Being Captain john parallel or Shiki parallel isn't far off from each other. Shiki parallel was obviously Law anyway. They are the "schemers" who are known for their plans among pirates in their generations. John will be shown to be more important than people realize as well
