Not every character needs to have an edgy teenager backstory that lasts for ages like Doflamingo, Kaido was introduced as an unstoppable berserker and I didn't expect depth more from him, but Oda gave him depth, he fought in wars even as a child, it makes complete sense why he values power above anything, yet he's also surprisingly honorable and in many cases very loyal.

Kaido didn't put Imu on his list because Imu isn't a pirate, it's as simple as that.

Imu is a character with zero charisma, void of any personality, he acts like a generic Saturday morning cartoon villain, evil for the sake of being evil.

Lmao Kaidou's issue isn't that he's just some dumb brute, it's the fact that he keeps acting like there's something more to him and his every word is contradicted by his next action. He's a complete stain on Oda's resume in character writing. Garbage character, who is complete bait.

Look at Lucci if you want a very simple brute force villain done well. Lucci is an exceptional character without being deep at all, Kaidou is like vomit in character form in comparison.

I guess not because Kaido's violent nature goes against the azure dragon's benevolent nature. Maybe being drunk (Shuron Hakke) helped him to tap into awakening partially by syncing his mind.

You're forcing a connection that simply doesn’t exist. I can criticize Imu as much as I want without having to justify anything about Kaido.
Analyzing one character doesn’t mean I have to balance it out with another — that just shows a lack of argument. If the topic is Imu, that’s who I’m talking about. Trying to bring Kaido into the discussion is just deflecting because there’s no defense for how empty Imu is.

I don't have a problem with comparing them tho, Kaido is obviously much better as a character.

Being Captain john parallel or Shiki parallel isn't far off from each other. Shiki parallel was obviously Law anyway. They are the "schemers" who are known for their plans among pirates in their generations. John will be shown to be more important than people realize as well

I think you're overanalyzing it. He's simply talking about your base strength and will reaching a certain level of combat. So basically if you're not just a DF merchant.

He’s definitely better for now — he has way more depth. Imu is just way too generic, man, and I’m not even liking all that regeneration and immortality crap. It makes the “god” of the verse look like a weak fighter, that’s the vibe it gives. Anyone can hit him, even a 21 year old kaidou.

At least Kaido took hits on purpose and dodged when he wanted to. He was a monster in battle, completely dominating Luffy in Gear 5 during their last round, cleanly — something Kizaru didn’t manage to do even once throughout the entire arc.

Crazy how Linlin didnt have awakening nor superior homie Hera but was still fighting side to side with the strongest of her era and matching their atks

He had different looking transformations where his face structure changed. Either this was (early stage)awakening or Oda hadn't thought out his design before he started drawing him. I bet on the latter because all of Wano was half baked early concept writing turned into images
