Toei did the same for Eustass. He still gets slandered to this about a scene that never existed in the manga. Even in his interaction with shanks, there was some random dialogue added.

Anything to push the Zoro/Shanks agenda.

But the beauty of all this, is that the manga doesn't lie. The remaining arcs will make this clear. Thats why I laugh when I zoro fans attempt to slander. Zoro will be fighting Shiryu, while kidd will be fighting...
