Atlas punching Marine fodder had better animation than Sanji attacking Nusjuro

:saden:

The Toei Sanji hate might be real
We told you but you didnt believe :pepestop:
This people removed the haki from pissjuros blade to make him look better while the staple of wano toei is und to fart black lightning and effetcs everwhere just to make him look better against damaji :luffyswat:

What I really hate about this situation is that it's a never-ending cycle.

Zoro does something badass without any focus on his character > people only care about fights so Zoro gets more popular > CL²⁴Oda and Toei see Zoro is popular and treat him better (especially fighting-wise) > Zoro does something even more badass > ...
Zoro might really threaten Luffy's rank 1 spot in the next poll

Sanji is stuck in the OK-fighter / great-character-focus swamp and it won't ever come out of that at this rate. He literally cannot get more popular because (almost) nobody cares about a well-rounded character with little to no meaningful payoff. His placement in the last popularity poll is incredible, even more so if we ignore Nami.

The only way out is if CL²⁴Oda somehow has a massive payoff in mind for the Germa/Sora plotline, something that would dwarf the "Nothing Happened" moment, given the 300+ chapter long build up, and that doesn't involve Sanji dying. Domi Reversi Sanji would be a step in that direction
I think the "nothing happened" moment x100 will happen, even since the vegapank leaks. I don't know if those leaks are true or not, but Oda gave Sanji the ability to get a super resistant and sturdy body for a reason. My guess is he will tank some attack like the one that destroyed Lulusia or something related to Mother Flame. I have this thing in mind.

I totally agree with you (not on the Oda nickname btw, I can't get it, I'm sorry)

Lmao it was obvious it would be bad...

A few months or even year or so, i said that this panel is gonna be very hard to animate, because the panel shows speed and a huge impact. Since it's a panel, you can show those at the same time, but when animating if you would focus too much on speed, the big impact on the sword would be unnoticed by most and if you focus too much on the ''clash'', the speed aspect would suffer. It's stil doable.
But Toei found a solution, just fuck both of those things up lmao

This was so fucking bad, why are they avoiding showings Sanji's speed this whole arc? Every speed moment was ass and/or changed. There was no speed in this scene and the impact was non-existent.
But ofc what they did was extend the Nusjuro biting scene with Sanji, because what else.

Just wait for when Zoro clashes with Nusjurou, cubes gonna be flying everywhere lmao

It's a meme at this point how they treat Sanji, nobody can deny that.

@PuckTheGreat
Regarding raid suit, Germa and exeskeleton topic.

Raid suit had more meaning than just be a powerup. I find no issues with Sanji wearing the Raid Suit
Him getting the Raid Suit was the culmination of the Germa story in WCI, and starting it's own subplot. It was very well executed.

1. Germa did cover for the strawhats and help them get away from WCI. Judge was implied to have seeds of change, especially after seeing his uncaring sons. Germa as a whole changed their outlook on Sanji.
So I assumed that, even though Sanji still didn't like Germa, some of the ice was slowly but surely breaking.

2. It kinda showed Sanji's will there, if he had to help his crew he would even take help from his estranged family. I liked that writing.

Something other than just a powerup should have come out of this, or the entire subplot was a waste of time.
This sub plot was alive for 3+ years (? don't remember, point is it's been there for a long time), and it just ended abruptly. Nothing came of this Germa sub plot, other than showing Sanji's stubbornness to stick to his personal code?
I was initially thinking that the suit was a symbolism for partial reconciliation with his family, irony of him realizing one of his two dreams through Germa etc. Then it got turned into a dilemma for Sanji's personality. And then, seemed like we're getting nothing out of it and he just destroyed it. So, why introduce Raid Suit? Why introduce Germa biology? Just to give him a powerup via exoskeleton? It buffed up his stats, but I was hoping for something more out of this than just a powerup.

Germa genes awakening was random and abrupt. There was no indication that the raid suit did anything to Sanji's biology or genes. The indication was that the suit uses tech to give him invisibility (through some form of camouflaging), gave him flight and increased speed/agility through the air pumping shoes etc. Nothing about it affecting genes or biology was hinted at.
Also because his backstory was about his mother sacrificing herself to ensure the gene modifications from Judge wouldn't happen.

Seems like a convenient excuse to get rid of the suit from LOda to me!
Sorry mate been overwhelmed with work so haven't been able to reply to this.
With regards to your takeaway on the raid suit, I don't really agree with it tbh.
Even with all of the Germa development Sanji got on WCI there's absolutely no reason for his development to have been based on the raid suit which is representative of them. Sanji rejected everything Germa and there was really no reconciliation on that part, he only kept the raid suit with him coz he thought it'd be a useful tool (*which might seem contradictory given the aforementioned point, but it's in line with Sanji's selfless/sacrificial nature). Moreover one of the main takeaways from that arc was that Sanji is the polar opposite what is percieved to be Germa/what Judge views as the perfect super soldier and is just fine the way he is. Narrative-wise, the logical route would be for Sanji to prove Judge wrong and build notoriety for himself that goes even beyond Germa, him wearing the raid suit will prevent him from achieving that.

With regards to the takeaway from WCI, I think you're missing the forest for the tress by hyper-focusing on the raid suit.
The main takeaway from WCI with regards to seeds for strength development for Sanji imo was his "lineage factor", the raid suit was just a convenient catalyst to help awaken that. Lineage factor is the basis for Sanji's exoskeleton, fire powers (most likely) and even Power of Love. Also the whole Germa biology wasn't just a plus for Sanji development wise but it also gave us exposition on the lineage factor which is a big plot point in OP. It's literally what is at the core of the Seraphim for example and also related to Devil Fruits. Moreover destroying the raid suit was good consistent character-writing for him giving his stance on Germa imo.

I get your point though on the raid suit being the catalyst for Sanji's gene awakening being a bit random but that's just because Oda is lazy and sloppy at times with his writing. There were several indications that the raid suit enhances the Vinsmoke's abilities, so it being the catalyst for Sanji's awakening is not that farfetched to be honest but the fact that I'm making an assertion about this just goes to show how poorly Oda handled the explanation on that. It did however end up being a pretty good plot tool for Sanji's chatacter development.

With regards to the Sora ting, Sanji's mother wasn't necessarily against the modifications but rather Judge taking empathy/emotions away from her children (strong evidence of this reiju) and turns out Sanji still has his emotions even with the gene awakening so Sora's sacrifice wasn't in vein. If anything it could very well turn out to be the reason why Sanji was able to keep his emotions and might even be the genesis of PoL as far as Sanji is concerned.

Getting rid of the suit was the best way to show Sanji's growth. It had his purpose and it was cool but it changed too much for Sanji fighting style in my honest opinion. I already said that if the suit was used for single things, for stealth missions for example and if the suit only power up was invisibility I was ok for Sanji to retain it. But the air boots and the cape shield was something extra Sanji already had. It was redundant. But the visual style of Sanji with the suit was very cool design, it was like the culmination of Sanji being a super hero who defends the weakest members of the crew.

For the fact that the suit, conveniently, unlocked something in Sanji well ok, it can be abrupt but I'm okay with it. Oda decided to give some hints in the early Queen fight, I'm pretty much satisfied.

Replying to puck, I'm more convinced that Diable Jambe can't be from Germa. It does not add up why Sanji used it before the modifications unlock. With Sora sacrifice, with the sbs, the emotions burning hotter than flame, I can rack my brain forever but the only conclusion I get is that Diable Jambe is really just the manifestation of Sanji's emotion which can be translated to the visual manifestation of Haki. Now Oda could explain it or not. I'm kinda ok with both.

I don't think it would have been that big of a change. Is being able to turn invisible by projecting the background on yourself that game changing? It is not like the Suke Suke no mi, this kind of invisibility should be ineffective against any good CoO user. The exoskeleton and the stat boosts he received on Onigashima are basically identical to the RS ones: sturdier and fire resistant body, greater strength behind his kicks. The cape use as a shield is so situational it wouldn't have changed much imo.

I'm also a fan of the RS design and, for those who aren't, let's not forget Sanji wanted to ask Franky and Usopp to modify its design. The idea of a suit-like RS 2.0 with the stylish gloves he wore on Onigashima as canister would have worked great.

I believe he went for the exoskeleton path to make everything simpler and distinguish Sanji from Franky the tech dude. The fact the transformation started the moment he wore the RS for the third time is extremely random, I still hope it has something to do with King AND the RS. Sanji having some lunarian blood due to Sora's drug could explain the fire and the timing of his lineage factor modification flaring up, especially with the RS acting as a catalyst
