Kuzan's ability is perhaps the most advantageous one in the One Piece world. In terms of raw power, it matches the Magu Magu no Mi and on top of that, it counters the DFs main weakness, which is water, by casually freezing the ocean between several islands. The only one safe from the sea. That's some huge advantage.
