I think the whole debate kinder confirms what I think recently about the "battles" in One Piece.
Roger,Xebec or Garp, they are victims of bad fight choreography, followed by Oda's apparent lack of ideas.
Unfortunately, what Oda always tried to avoid has more or less come to pass. Most of the characters we see in action right now were characters we've all been waiting to see in action for years but unfortunately the "WoW effect" is somehow missing. Why was Roger vs Whitebeard first encounter so hyped by the community? Because we saw for the first-time a new power(adv CoC) which surpassed the usually Sky split feat of yonkous... Mountains getting destroyed or island getting cut is something which we already saw in Onigashima. Oda didn´t make himself a favor giving Kaido someone who possesses an insane devilfruit power, the same adv CoC. And of all powers, adv CoC seems kinda "boring"?

Just look these panels:

This had more impact than anything we got in GV depends having top tiers fighting and destroying an island apart lol...
I know this is a flashback, but a flashback shouldn´t be a excuse for bad fight choreographys..
At most when it come to characters like Roger,Xebec and Garp...

Fight choreography is really bad since wano ending, Egghead was a complete disaster with Kizaru vs Luffy, the fight choreography isn't really good since Wano ended. Oda really needs to come up with something so that characters like Xebec, Roger, or Garp stand out from other Devil Fruit users because they don't have any Devil Fruits...

I wish Oda would get more help from Shueisha in this regard, with editors who know how to help Oda with fights.
Give him ideas for abilities...

I'm afraid Katakuri vs Luffy is the last great fight we will ever get in this manga.

Oda is just not into it.

I gave up on oda drawing fights especially involving side characters long time ago.

Imo Oda simply got tired of drawing fights, he might try for the next big Luffy fight though...

Sadly this might be true, Oda drawing for fight scenes has fallen rapidly.
He really only draws the bare minimum. This chapter had some good moments that I enjoyed.
I really hope Oda expands his game now and shows why Roger/Garp are considered legends.

We need something new for One Piece...

Oda is a Zoro wanker, he is probably gonna have Zoro DR but break free by sheer willpower and Enma shenanigas as an insanely hype Zoro moment (elbaph version of him stopping hakai)

Pre skip fights were cool too to an extent. As far as pure choreography goes though Luffy vs Lucci and Luffy vs Katakuri will never be topped. Both were brawler types so the matchup made for an aesthetically pleasing fight.

Oda just scribbles these days and calls it a fight. I knew it was over when he admitted he doesn't want to draw fights in an interview from a couple years ago.

Think about how cool the first panel of dragon Kaido was.

Learning/seeing a new top tier devil fruit power is cool as fuck.

With haki men we literally know there moveset ahead of time. There’s no intrigue.
