I would have been much more open to Whitebeard having a significant growth post-GV if it wasn't for Oda etablishing that he already his broken devil fruit years before that event. Heck I was actually open to it before the flashback because we didn't know if he already had it.

If Oda wanted to convince the readers WB hadn't entered his prime it was very very easy. In fact it was much harder to do the opposite. He went out of his way to make sure WB has his:

-Supreme graded Nagitana
-The Gura (with years of experience confirmed)
-ACoC

All he had to do was atleast drop his supreme blade, that way we could atleast say he is just a touch away from the final product on paper, since Gura + ACoC is like 90%+ of the way there. The Supreme blade was the nail in the coffin, Oda wasn't even willing to compromise that. Oda went out of his way to make sure WB had every one of his key tools. There's not much room for growth for WB now... he's getting marginally stronger, he's gonna gain some more life experience and grow wiser, that's pretty much it.

Blackbeard went from being a borderline hakilet with zero fruits. To arguably the two strongest fruits in the verse. WB already has his saijo, his df, and his ACoC. He is fully complete on paper like his final version.

That just doesn't do justice to the king of the seas, who stood atop the pirate hierarchy, who ruled in front of the throne. Which is how he was introduced. Dying standing on his feet, despite the hundreds of wounds suffered. Not being send flying through a mountain, gooning for Shakky, not paying bills and running errands for another man. That's not Whitebeard. I refuse to accept it.

Yeah, kid Blackbeard was an orphan who´s entire country was wiped out and he needed a place to stay. He stopped being loyal by the time he was in his 30s and was looking for the Yami at that point, or something like that. He wasn´t a real loyal subordinate.

That panel makes it worse honestly. He´s saying Oden isn´t the type to serve someone else, but we know WB was the type to serve rocks. If WB was born in Wano, he would either end up working for the Kozuki or Kurozomi clan. That´s how bad it is.

Xebec is literally stated to be stronger than Primebeard (prime Roger’s equal), you can’t seriously think a fight between him and GV Roger is a close fight.

On top of the Gura, Oda also gave WB his signature supreme grade and a design very close to his captain one by GV
if Oda wanted to convey that this WB was far from his prime he could have done a much better job.

"Far from his prime" is an overstatement. But imo it's been obvious enough that none of these guys are in their prime bar Xebec. Some closer than others, sure, but not quite. From a design/narrative perspective, Roger doesn't have his signature moustache. Whitebeard doesn't have his crew.

Prime Roger and WB, even in a casual clash, clash without touching with high intensity (and ACoC so strong that it's a different art style to the normal lightning btw, possibly indicating another level to it).

GV Roger and WB clashed while touching = they're not quite there yet.

I know you're on supreme cope for agenda but "MF BB" had an odd few months with the yami and literally just picked up the gura.

He had all the room in the world to grow. We don't even know if he had ACoC and he possibly has that now too.

It's actually hilarious using MF BB as an example here, he probably had more room to grow than actual year 1 pirates.
