People really expected the old gen to have feats that make the current gen look like fodder, in reality it's almost the opposite, nothing we have seen on God Valley comes close to Kaido and Luffy's clash.

People look at the old generation — those bearded, cool-designed characters — and say, “No way those kids are on the same level as a chad like that.” But truth be told, as we’ve just seen, the new generation is always greater than the old one. They were even said to be the only ones capable of defeating Kaidou. It’s crazy, but Law and Kid actually have better AP and DC feats against Big Mom than Roger and Garp. Personally, I no longer see them as being below Roger and Garp’s God Valley versions.

Take Kizaru for example — cool design, over 50 years old, has that “aura” — yet his AP couldn’t even knock out Franky. Really underwhelming feats.

Linlin's interaction with Kaido is lowkey pretty nice this chapter. Going by their facial expressions it's clear that she's not 100% spiteful and bitter towards him, that smile indicates there's still some level of "big sis and younger bro" dynamics at play here.

Oda's not flanderizing by either making her overly caring towards Kaido (prior to the fb some thought she would feed him the azure dragon df and save him nonchalantly, but in retrospect that would be slightly out of character for her) or by having her act utterly heartless and indifferent towards him. She did try to jump Webec immediately after he tossed Kaido aside after all.

A shame that solid character writing came at the expense of making her job so much, but I'll take it.

He did not even go out with the smile on his face which most people get .

If Oda had designed Galaxy Impact and Divine Departure as finishing moves, it would have looked much more aesthetically pleasing.

Rayleigh's mutt isn't fighting Rayleigh's equal, this ship sailed the moment he got Wile Coyote'd out of God Valley by one ACoCless attack

I wonder how ppl can still say this is a good fight......
It's 70% offscreen fight again.
Demon Xebec have no special move, just random sword + haki attack.
No good choreograph,
You see Roger/Garp getting push away on random panel.
None of them show special move/name attack other than the last combo attack.

You can tell Oda's not really focusing on the fight.
These ppl are the peak of top tier the story implied to be and we won't see their fight again.

Other shounen mangaka will focus on the battle and shows different various of techniques and move.
I guess haki fight deminish the creativity of a fight.

Even Zoro finishers are better than what Xebec got. It seems CL²⁴Oda noticed Gaban and Rayleigh did almost nothing during the entire incident and he wants to redeem them. My best guess is Rayleigh vs Garling and Gaban vs Sommers just to mess with us. Hopefully we'll get some more Holy Knight action before this ends

Honestly, this sequence is better and more beautiful.

1037 is probably the last good fight sequence we've gotten. Shame he didnt follow up on it well with G5 by the end. I was also expecting more vs Kizaru too.

Dunno who Luffy is fighting in Elbaf truly, but I really hope he can build to this sequence again. Hes done only a handful of times with Croc, Lucci, Doflamingo and Katakuri too.

Yeah, then Luffy uses barrier Haki, blocks, and strikes Kaidou — it’s one of Oda’s most insane and beautiful choreographies. We truly saw Luffy using all of his abilities here.
