I don't think western OP yonko fans ever downplayed Garp that much. It was big in like, the French and Arabic OP communities, I know that for a fact. I think western OP Yonko fans are more so Sengoku downplayers then Garp.

Yeah, I imagine at some point it will be established that Sengoku was Garps official handler after GV. If he stepped out of line, Sengoku would be the one sent to kill him

I do have to say, I think it's kind of lame that Oda established Garp as that guy, but not Sir Figarland. The villain tax is kind of pathetic, imo.

I never personally thought he would be that strong, but he could have been Primebeard level, and had a an evil colonialist type thing going. People were so hyped about him, they thought he could be final villain
