Two of the best arcs in the series. Yes, they are not without fault but the Rooftop in Wano and all Rocks excellency before/during GV is peak. It's not like Fishman Island or Whole Cake (apart from Katakuri) that just dragged on and on and on.

The anime will eat GOOD filling out everything that was hinted but couldn't be finished within the manga. Especially when they drop the frequency to 1 episode/2 weeks.

The anime isn't gonna be adding entirely new, fully fleshed out fights, lol. They're gonna do shit like make Captain John tank the first booger bomb, have a brief skirmish, and get KOed by a 2nd booger bomb, lol.

I dont watch the anime anymore but surely they will be able to add loads of scenes, for example flesh out what happened to WB post Xebec clash pre meeting Graham, and so on. Or even have Shiki briefly skirmish with Gaban or whatever else as long as Oda gives his OK. They did that at Marineford too.

You can't compare GV to Onigashima. The only fight in GV was between Xebec and Roger/Garp, it would be better to compare it to Oden's flashback.
The fight was a bit underwhelming, but seeing Xebec crying and begging Roger/Garp to kill him made me sad.

Anyway, GV flashback is quite enjoyable and I can reread it over and over again, but even if you paid me i would refuse to waste more than 10 minutes rereading Onigashima.

If we gonna compare on "battle scenes"
Onigashima clears neg diff....

One of the major reason entire fandom were hype about God Valley is they were looking for the battle scenes which supposedly involved Roger + Garp + Xebec + all other legendary pirates and more.
And it was mid asf.
Being a flashback arc doesn't excuse anything as this is the final showdown of God Valley.
Roger and Garp aren't some random guy, and it's the hardest battle they fought in their career and going all out fight, there aren't any more detail, Oda shows the flesh and bone about GV and this what we get lol

By writing, lore and amount of info we get and Xebec character carrying the flashback, GV is better than Onigashima on that field.

Two different things. God valley was supposed to be epic and our peek at lore & the past generation at their best.

Onigashima was the end of a saga that started way back around chapter 649. Onigashima being bad reflects worse on the manga than a single flashback being mid

God Valley was not great at all, but it can't compare to the shitshow that was Onigashima that was far too long, had far too many characters, too much plot armor and other powers bs, where the antagonists were treated horrifically bad, and with too made useless side characters that devoured too much screentime, and the worst asspull and stupid retcon in the manga with Nika.

thats not your every day flashback lol
It is though. Just because we're more interested in it and it's packed with characters we want to see fight doesn't mean Oda have to treat it like it's present timeline.

OP is already too long, and this is a critic, Oda is bad with pacing. Imo he did the right thing by not dragging the flashback with unnecessary long fights. Some characters suffered from it but it's an understandable sacrifice.

Moving the plot forward is more important than powerscaling dead characters.
