I did not. This is why I never got mad when my theory was proven wrong. This is what I mean by not having "illegitimate expectations". If something is not prepared and announced CLEARLY in the story, it's dangerous to have these expectations because One Piece is a week-to-week story. So it can literally ruin the fun in the long term. And this parameter participates in the overall negativity.

I never really expected Carrot to join. I rather "thought" she would join and I made a clear hypothesis/affirmation. There is here a big nuance that most people never got (even Carrot fans whom I tried to explain this). Expecting is knowing and adjusting our enjoyment based on the expectation, something happens. Thinking is different, the enjoyment is not affected if what we believe don't happen.
