1. If 2 attacks are equal the person with the stronger haki wins
2. Someone with weaker haki can still overpower someone with stronger haki if the attack is strong enough
   • G2 vs marigold or g4 vs katakuri
3. When it comes to devil fruit hax that just depends on who has the stronger haki if it’s negated or not

Some are objectively stated to be outright superior to others.

Negating abilities from Top Tier Mythical Zoans ~ Top Tier Logias ~ Peak Paramecias (Gura Gura/Op Op/Boa’s fruit) is going to be harder than negating random DF powers.

Haki boosts your defences. Luffy went from being K.O.ed by Ragnarok to tanking/enduring Ragnarok from drunken mode Kaido post ACOC awakening. Nothing new.

As for DF hax it depends on oda's whims which abilities get countered and which don't like law's shambles and amputee was countered by BM but not his awakening abilities.

Originally Blackbeard had the Yami fruit because it was the only way to negate Devil fruits at the time(Armament Haki didn't exist) but who knows what the retcon reason will be for Blackbeard wanting it, probably something related to Regen.

These characters are all very strong yet are still failures compared to Gooffy. Gooffy is literally the return of Soyboy and Nika because he ate the right fruit.
If it wasn't for the fruit retcon and the whole warrior of liberation thing, I would be much more open to the final fight being base Luffy vs Blackbeard, actually this is what I assumed until he awakened.

There are clear exceptions to this though

I don’t really understand the logic behind it but it seems like certain fruit abilities/fruits entirely are exempt from this

For example, as far as we know no amount of haki makes you completely immune to Boa’s ability

If you get hit you’re fucked

Big Mom and Kaido were noted to have “passive” haki barriers that negated a chunk of Law’s kit but not all of it

Shit, Luffy should have much stronger haki than Kizaru but if anything it’s almost like Kizaru is the one that negated Luffy’s abilities since they did so little damage

so in theory u can negate any df ability , u just need the mass/quality of haki required for it.

Kizaru's sword is made of same light and lasers which even Franky tanked. Hybrid Kaido also dodged G2 luffy's attacks pre ACOC. Luffy is also weaker to cutting attacks. Kaido's lower level attacks like wind slashes were cutting G5 bad.

Imo joyboy only managed to affect gorosei because their ability is tied to imu who got joyboy ptsd.
