I don’t think Itachi could break Izanami while he was alive. He admits he sees a lot of himself in Kabuto, was arrogant and tried to manipulate everything to the letter even post-death.

Edo Itachi should be pretty immune to it though.

It's kind of vague on who he would work on, since it's a bit of an asspull Jutsu,but it wouldn't be reasonable to assume it works on anyone with character flaws. I'm not sure at what point in Itachi's life he would have had trouble admitting who he is. Obito on the other hand, is basically a Kabuto parallel

That’s not true, Itachi put the crow in Naruto specifically so he could brain wash Sasuke from beyond the grave to be loyal to Konoha
