Immediately after Rocks we are being told that Roger was in competition with Whitebeard Big mom and Kaido for territories
Roger had already reached Lodestar island one year before God valley and no one cared. It didn’t change shit. Roger just spent several years after that seemingly unremarkably until he COMPLETELY LUCKED OUT on finding Oden on Whitebeard’s crew and begging Whitebeard for him. And that’s what got him the one piece.
