How you can read this manga and don´t get how these two are Luffy main opponents aside Imu?
Alone the fact Luffy clearly reminds Akainu name tells a lot.
Akainu and Teach are Luffy main opponents, they are the peak of all strongest characters.

Big Mom didn´t kill Luffy's brother, he did´t forced him to take a timeskip to get stronger.

He didnt "retcon" anything lol. Luffy makes proclamations all the time that arent always meant to happen. We "know" now in hindsight he was never defeating all Yonko, but he is surpassing them all direcly and indirectly.
Luffy has never made any proclamations fighting Akainu. We know they are fighting by virtue of what Akainu has done to Luffy in this story. Kaido was fought because he was a direct aggressor of Luffy's friends for many arcs. In lieu of having Luffy fight Big Mom, Oda used Katakuri as that stopgap. There's nothing "wrong" how that is presented, he doesnt want to be redundant. His allies defeated her in the end.
The fact that Luffy half assed fought Kizaru just proves that point, because it means that Akainu wont "feel" redundant. Defeating him is catharsis for Ace. Defeating him ends his era of extremism in marine ranks. These have purpose in this story as we've seen.

This is how I see it. Akainu will have a short fight with luffy. If you think akainu is main big boss thats fine. We shall see who stands corrected 
This is my point, the same reasons those 2 are being set up for fights, you can make similar cases for Shamrock and Akainu especially
Making proclamations < Your head canon interpretation of an possible event? 
Rhetorical question: How do you and 99% of readers know Luffy will fight Teach and Imu if he does not make these proclamations about either character?
These are the same reasons I argue Akainu and Shamrock will be fought, moreso Akainu because he literally kills the MCs brother and scars him.
Why are you so overtly biased against Sakazuki here? It makes fundamentally no sense.

Luffy & Big Mom /Luffy & Akainu got little to do with each other. In the end Big Mom was just another big fish standing in Luffy's path while Akainu is the guy that mudered his brother, scarred him and temporarily broke his will to the point hearing the guy's name is enough for Luffy to be gritting his teeth while holding his throbbing scar. Narrative wise Luffy vs Akainu is extremely solid as a fight, I'd argue it is as solid as Luffy vs Blackbeard ( funnily Jinbe presented their ascension to power as the two big things that happened during the past two years to Luffy).
