General & Others IMO the final war isn’t a big battle like MF

I believe that the final war is a series of small wars and battles between different factions and that it had already started from the beginning of the series and Marineford is but a phase of this war.

What’s your insight into this?

Imo its exactly this. There are clear hints to the world starting to fight over land and resources after Vegapunk's speech. Dragon talked about it, now roughly a week has passed and we hear Mariejoa is on fire.

I dont think Oda can logically write virtually everyone fighting in one place, but I think can set up key battles and events as we clear the rest of the journey.

1. Imo, post Elbaf, the first major one will be the war for the 4th Road Poneglyph. We sort of know its happening given how Oda seems to be framing the 4 Yonko and Marines against each other and their dialogue.

If Oda was comparing anything to Marineford and it being "cute", its this one because fundamentally this is where we probably will see Blackbeard defeat Shanks and potentially where Luffy will defeat Akainu. But its more than this. Depending on who CG recruits (more former Shichibukai), Luffy's Grand Fleet Potentially showing up, and all of the significant Marine, Blackbeard and Red Hair forces because thematically this is a Pirate vs Pirate vs Marine Battle over access to One Piece, which is far larger than just 1 Yonko vs Marines which only ended in 2 Deaths/losses. Nothing else definitively ended.

2. I think the next part is more intimate, be it Laugh Tale and it exclusively a battle between Luffy and Blackbeard's crews. It just makes thematic sense as to who directly fights for the treasure here and how. But less a war though

3. The fight against the World Government will be the biggest thing Oda has done unto his series' end and he doesnt need anyone above to do it

- Luffy's entire crew/Grand Fleet
- Possibly former Roger/Whitebeard Pirate Fleets
- Big Mom and Kaido's crews run by Katakuri and Yamato probably.
- All Supernova and former Shichibukai allies (Hancock, Kuma, etc)
- All Kingdom Related Allies (Alabasta, Sky Islanders, Galley La, Ryuugu, Dressrosa, Zou, Wano, and Elbaf)
- Revolutionaries/Vegapunk
- Allied Marines (Koby/SWORD, Tashigi/Smoker, etc) and they break with Akainu's loss possibly

Vs

- Imu
- His main 13 (or at least whoever doesnt fall in Elbaf)
- Seraphim (as Adults) + Confiscated Pacifista from Egghead
- Kong (if he does anything lol)
- Cipher Pol 0/Possibly other clones like Stussy/Weevil
- Possibly other WG characters under Kong, etc we havent met yet. I.e. it wouldnt surprise me if the WG has an army/land equivalent to the Marines
- Likely countless of allied Kingdoms and fodder (CP1-9, Blades of God, etc)

And IF somehow the Marines dont actually lose before Luffy becomes PK, then it just makes this WG side overwhelming, all the while major kingdoms are even fighting each other worldwide.

Tldr: 3 separate battles, 1 for Yonko/Marines. 1 for Blackbeard. 1 for the WG.

Oda can't handle a big fight between multiple faction at one time
The plot will likely break down into 3-4 stages like Wano act

Stage 1 : Strawhat lesser allies vs WG minions (with SHs as side character)

Stage 2 : Involves some Marines, other pirates, Cp0, lesser RA etc and final Flashback/backstory

Stage 3 : Main big shots of Marines, main RA (Sabo, Dragon etc), WG higher ups, Big shots of Strawhats allies ( Loki, Momo, Vivi, Shirahoshi etc)

Final stage : Strawhat pirates, other Yonko, Blackbeard, Imu, Gorosei.....

More like a lot of teasing, off paneling, cling clang panels, clash piece, more teasing, characters running around, zooming in on characters faces, reaction piece and ultimately 50 chapters of Luffy vs Imu/Teach or whatever

So basically Marineford lol

If anything that would be one of the main arguments against Oda doing a Marineford style final arc

Shit would be a nightmare

Difference is, Marineford was always supposed to be a teaser to what's to come and even then it was better paced than Wano and Oda kept greater focus on the important stuff.

If Oda wants to draw the biggest fucking war in the entire manga, he should deliver on all fronts, even if takes another 5 years, either that or he just shouldn't at all and find a different route for the climax of the manga, because no one wants to read a war arc/final battle type scenario where most of the focus is shifted away from the action.

Wano had full fights though, no?

I won't argue against him unnecessarily padding certain sections out. I don't even think it's possible to defend Luffy's 10 chapter run to the Rooftop which he clearly stretched for chapter 1000

But there were a lot more actual fully fleshed out fights in Wano than MF. I don't think MF even had one full fight. It was clash, cut away, clash, cut away

Important things (like Doflamingo cornering Moria) also happened completely off panel and were referenced later on

While Wano/Onigashima were poorly paced I don't think it's fair to compare a rescue arc to a genuine full scale battle where the goal is to defeat all of your enemies. Oda was able to maintain focus because it isn't particularly hard to draw Luffy running towards the execution platform before drawing a page or 2 of WB vs Akainu before cutting back to Luffy running again

Oda didn't shift away from the action in Wano. If anything I'd argue the main issue was him giving too many characters the limelight rather than putting his head down and locking in on the important matchups sooner

For example, we didn't need an entire segment dedicated to Raizo vs Fukurokuju, Zoro and Drake vs Apoo (which was like 5 chapters too long), or Chopper vs Queen

In a weird way I do agree with you just not for the same reason. Too many characters involved in the Final War means we'll be switching POV's to characters like Belo Betty fighting Holy Knight scrub #7. If he can find a way to narrow it down to give or take 10-20 major characters on either side then it would be fine imo
