My prediction so far is that we’ll get further setup before all parties reach Laugh Tale. Remember, while I personally think Oda fumbled the impact, according to the manga, the final war arguably started at Egghead. The "Egghead Incident" was the trigger described in the manga that set events in motion, and we even saw the contenders for the One Piece in that final spread at the end. I imagine we’ll see further escalation in Elbaf. The only group we haven’t seen anything from power-wise in that spread was the Holy Knights, and we’re finally getting an intro to what they can do now. Plus, we are introducing the last relevant nation in terms of power, Elbaf.
I actually predicted the next island would probably be Laugh Tale way even before Oda’s message.
I’ve always imagined (obviously with a lot of headcanon) since I started reading One Piece (and I’m old compared to most mofos here

)that it would go something like this: Laugh Tale is probably partially sunk or protected by natural weather disasters. Most parties will, at the very minimum, clash and fight around it (sort of like the battle in Pirates of the Caribbean 3 in the eye of the storm), even if they don't all set foot on the island itself. Or, if Oda doesn't want to keep the island that exclusive, it’ll be a massive battle royale on Laugh Tale while everyone tries to grab the One Piece. That makes the most sense and seems the most exciting to me and probally to oda assesing him as a writer
Then, after Luffy becomes Pirate King (which was clear even before the "true dream" reveal is not the end of his journey, as the shounen protag always suprass the old gen, just not achives parity ) he will do what the old generation couldn’t. Shonen protagonists always surpass the old gen, they don't just achieve parity. He will enact Joyboy's will (which Roger couldn't do because he was sick and it wasn't the right time) and defeat Imu, someone Joyboy couldn't defeat despite being the first pirate and arguably the freest man ever.
Obviously, this doesn’t have to happen, but I’ve been thinking this way for over 15 years and so far, nothing has happened to contradict it.
