I don't understand how emphasizing the importance of socialist policy in a capitalist society is so controversial
We all love social policies in our capitalist democracies, it's when that's taken to the extremes and people seem to desire genuine socialism that it becomes an issue. We already have massive social platforms to help people, the entire SNAP issue during October revealed we have 45 million people getting food stamps subsidized by the government. That ain't capitalist by principle.

You didn’t emphasize, you wrote a post that clearly labels socialism as inherently good and capitalism as inherently bad in contrast
Yeah sure ignore all my posts elaborating on my jest. At least now I understand where the assumptions are coming from and why all of my posts elaboration are being ignored to claim the opposite of what I say. No matter how many times I say it cant work in government.

Socialism and socialist policy are two completely different goalposts. But that's why I defined socialism every time I used it :dankfoil:
"Socialism in any shape or form"

Is it genuinely realistic for someone to choose spending years of their life learning some of the hardest skills know to man in engineering or worse, 15-20 years of your life to become a surgeon to get valued the same as a garbage cleaner for a “collaborative society”? You do realise most humans won’t do that and will much rather drift towards worse jobs leading to the country’s doom right?

All humans are equal but not all jobs and skills are. Some skills are objectively superior to others. And it’s not discrimination. It’d only be discrimination if two people have the same skills and do the same job without getting the same rewards. Which is a big no.

As long as everyone is having their basic human rights and needs met, everything else is wants. Not every human should have all their wants met for “empathy” if they can’t put in the work.

There’s no joking around when it comes to politics, now go the town square and prepared to be pelted

Do you think an engineer should be paid the same as a garbage cleaner? Don’t try to beat around the bush and answer the question.
Short answer: Yes.
Give respect to the job of garbage cleaner and you will have the cleanest city in the world.

“Socialism is when government does stuff”

It’s such a dumb answer. Healthcare in like 99% of mixed economies allow for private ownership alongside a nation health system. That is not authoritarian and in fact capitalist
Healthcare is a result of socialist battles. It's mainly because socialist fought for it that we have it. It's not a product of capitalism. It's a social progress acquired against it.

As such healthcare is an example of many social progress that socialism can create. Without socialism, you would pay 15000$ for a cancer treatment....

.. wait!

Healthcare advances have often been credited to capitalism, do you also credit your cheap cancer treatments to capitalism?

Been there done that. They all have shit aim.

That post was literal response to the all the "capitalism good, socialism bad" talk. It aint that simple.

The word socialism has meaning. :dank:
And there are different types of socialism along with different types of implementation.

Logiko is gonna name us the Four Horsemen of Capitalism :risiflip:
The only thing I’m ideologically tied to is liberalism, the idea that people can live freely without causing direct harm to their neighbors

as of now capitalism aligns more with that, as explained before co-op and communes can easily exist capitalist societies. Unfortunately socialist societies tend to be sacrifice most individualism for collectivism which is a no for me

I'm not married to capitalism, but to deny its superiority to socialism in 2026 when everyone and their cats know socialist outcomes is wild to me.
