He already had a lot of influence at the time, especially in Lebanon, Jalal Eddine Al Faresi's comments only makes things more suspicious
He was influential with the Shia across MENA, but did he have enough influence on Gaddafi to carry out this job? That's where I doubt it.

Regardless this is ancient history compared to now, and most of those involved are dead by now.

@Midnight Delight @Apollo looks like the Kurds are rebelling in Iran
They lost their foothold in Syria, trying to make one in Iran is just gonna push use closer to the Turco-Iranian alliance.

Twitter is so funny at the moment

Zoroastrian larpers, Persian Nationalists, Shahists, Ayotallah loyalists, Anti Ayotallah Shia, Azeri "Turan" nationalists, Kurdish nationalists, Kurdish Salafists

All in one massive LARP war

Just like the good ol days of Zoroastrians Mazdaks Christians and Manicheans all killing each other
@Apollo why is it always a spiritual war with this guy

Trump might support them just to help Israel and fuck over Iran.

The Middle East is filled with sectarian conflict and opinions, you're just getting a sample from him.

If Iranian sources are to be believed, they already are supported/guided by Israel. Which makes sense considering the mossad gloats it has many capabilities inside Iran.

I don’t doubt Israel is, but the U.S for the most part has been lukewarm towards the Kurds since the first Trump admin so I doubt we’ve been helping with the current developments

that might change considering how hawkish Trump has been

Trump did threaten Iran multiple times if they shoot at them.
More US military assets were being moved to the Middle East recently.
Israeli cabinet outright said they have plans for wide military operations against Iran and Lebanon. Then they send a message to Iran that they won't strike.
And some countries asked their citizens to leave Iran.

Very similar to the situation before the war in June. So I believe the decision has mostly been made for war with Iran. Kurds will serve as good internal conflict since the last war actually caused some unity among Iranians.

The funniest thing about the Kurds is that just about every country supported them in one country but were against them in another

Saddam's PKK connection is a part of the Region's "what the fuck is going on" iceberg

@Apollo is a Nasser appreciator
The guy was extra charismatic and did some good things to end the feudal systems in Egypt with land reform. But he failed in a lot of other areas.
Left us with the autocratic system other Arab nationalists used (Baathist parties as an example).
Marginalized faith in a region where that is the most important thing to people.
Failed to create good institutions that serve the people and improve economy and industry.
Lost 3 wars.

I could listen to him all day though.

I read about him years ago to learn more about the Arab-Israeli conflict and he legit felt like a main character. Really funny guy to follow, I bet other Arab leaders hated his ass tho lmao

They did fear and hate him lol. The guy was very popular even among countries that were his rivals, they feared they'd get couped.

Nasser was so Autocratic when he united Syria and Egypt that it practically killed the Dream of "United Arab Country"

But you can't deny, Under Him, Arabic Culture reached a height it was rising to since Al Nahda

Ever Since his Death Arab Culture devolved to the 1200s with an anti Art and Expression stance

There will never be another Umm Kalthum, nor another Taha Hussien

It’s funny how people are so unaware of what pan-arbism is, and how none of these countries were fighting on behalf of creating a Palestinian state. They just wanted more land for their future pan Arab state

Yasser Arafat never denied this, it wasn't untill Saddam getting nuked from Kuwait that he realised that his Dream is dead

Neither does Hamas, they declared Palestine as "ard waqf" that belongs to Muslims worldwide

Different eras

Umm Kalthum had borderline zero direct western Influences, Fairuz was influenced by western Pop
For Umm Kalthum you have to sit on your ass for 60 minutes to get the experience. Fairouz is better when you're riding in the morning. Better in the winter too.
Fairouz singing about our cities hit much closer among the people while Umm Kalthum singing is more state-oriented. The emotions and authenticity are much greater among the works of Fairouz.

Also, she's hella cute. Saw her in a play and I fell in love.

Just finished my cup of coffee and almost want to get a second now that you mention her.
