Don't deceive yourself, throughout the story Gon was overshadowed by Killua and Kurapika, not to mention the Yorknew arc, Kurapika was the one in the forefront on his own, the only time Gon came to the forefront was during his fight with Pitou, and in the manga, he was completely sidelined, my friend, sidelined in his own manga.
