The uncomfortable truth is that most anime/manga’s don’t really have these GoT S8 trainwreck level endings that every series’s folk subreddits would have you believe. It’s just that those people are too invested in the series and have all these headcanons about how the series must end, and get hysterical whenever it deviates from how they envisioned the ending going. Even AoT’s ending wasn’t nearly as bad as r/titanfolk would have you believe

The one manga I was left fulfilled reading was Vagabond, even knowing it never got a proper ending

Gintama is a battle Shounen as much as it is a comedy manga. So it should count. Its serious arcs are up there with the best of them.
