Bonbon, they literally attacked Bahrain and the UAE right after lol
I don’t doubt one side of the Iranian gov is doing everything in their power to stop the fire. The issue is their IRGC commanders who have a lot of autonomy might not see eye to eye
To me, the distinction is Iran is attacking US assets and not Gulf but it does violate Gulf sovereignty. However, Gulf is allowing their lands to be used to attack Iran.
So, it's a bind.
I think Gulf can't say no to USA and Iran is attacking US assets which is putting pressure on Gulf as well to respond but don't want to go into a war with Iran as it would results into irreversible damage to the region.
I will tell you why..
1) It will spill over. Pakistan and S. Arabia have mutual defense agreement. Attack on Arabia means attack on Pakistan. So, if Arabia goes into war with Iran then Pakistan has to help S. Arabia.
This becomes more complex because Pakistan is already at war with Afghanistan and Iran borders Pakistan which means there's a possibility even Afghanistan gets into the war.
2) Fuel prices would affect Europe, Africa and Asia, Australia so badly that entire global economy would be under inflationary pressure.
This war is totally different from Ukraine - Russia due to fuel dependency of the world on the region and Strait of Hormuz being choked.
3) Middle East is central point as far as fights connectivity is concerned between the west and the East.
Economically everything will be hit.
More global pressure on Gulf and Iran to stop the war.
To me, Gulf attacking Iran would only happen if things go totally out of diplomatic channels and Iran keeps on attacking the commercial centers. But as of now, this isn't the case.
