Alright. Now that you've laid your thoughts out, I can see why you have an issue with her play. And I think part of it comes from the fact that when we're thinking about reads that involve suspicion on us, we probably tend to be more hyper-aware of those players and to see potential scum-motivation in the things that they do. I myself can feel it when I think about Juliet. I can feel myself trying to justify the way she's thrown accusations at me as coming from a scum frame of mind, because then it gives me the impetus to unpick it and show how those accusations are wrong. So I'm trying to measure my responses and look elsewhere for scum as well, but I'm conscious it's a bias I have to try to continually fight.
With that said, I'm going to play devils advocate from the position of never having played with you *or* York before, and give you an outsider take on how I see your interactions.
The problem I have with her game is that it's extremely narrow.
Agreed. But that's not a problem specific to York. There are several players who have either not interacted very much with the player list, or not given very many reads. And I don't think they can all be scum, but I do think this is a safe place for scum to hide. And that's unfortunate.
First and second pages of her ISO are spent mostly arguing with Alexis. Alexis which York townread very quickly (!):
Actually, I can understand the mindset of town-York doing this. She already explained that she finds it fun/entertaining to spar with Alex, and she clearly wasn't doing it in a way to present "solving" activity. My impression was, York knew that Alex's readlists were wrong, because she was in them. Hell, she was in them before she even made a second post, because Alex claimed to be able to find her from her single entry post.
So I can easily imagine town-York in that situation, town-reading her biggest accuser, but knowing that he's wrong, unlikely to be listened to, and likely to look foolish after she flips, and simply having fun taunting him along the way.
Could she also be doing it as scum? I suppose so. She could've been taunting him with the intention of NKing him. But on balance of probability I think the way she was 'playing' with him is more likely to come from a town. And am I reading too much into the mind of a player I know nothing about? Perhaps. But I can't unthink my thoughts. All I can do is refrain from speaking them, and I didn't sub into this game to hold back.
So spend the most energy in this game arguing with her townread. Alexis got replaced out later, so she was free to put that energy elsewhere, but I wouldn't say it exactly happened.
Agreed. I think this would look worse is she was *obviously* using Alexis as a way to generate "real" content, though. But still, not great.
She also made that post on Michelle, who had a problem with her early claim. Remember it, because I will come to it later
I actually think the post about Michelle looked okay for York. It felt like she was confident Michelle was town, and also confident that Michelle would reach the same conclusion about York. And Michelle did soften that suspicion considerably, in a way that felt natural and not something that York tried to force. So I would disagree with you on this point.
There was also this comment on Cal
By the way, what the heck is that post? She does not elaborate whether being tepid is a scum alignment indicative or town alingment indicative for Cal? Nothingburger post. She also had vote on Alexis (her townread) parked most of the day.
This one is hard for me because it's a partial meta read. But I do agree that having such a lukewarm non-stance on Cal isn't great. But the way she called him 'tepid' was slightly insulting, and makes me wonder if it was some sort of reaction test. Again, I might be assigning motives that never existed... I'll re-read York's ISO shortly to gain the full context of the York/Cal interactions.
1. What does it mean that I'm still a "main sus"? I never felt like her main sus, as all she did towards me was throw this comment "not vibing" 2 hours after start of the game, and when 40 more hours passed, she calls it main sus. Who's non main sus? We have no idea. This is zero progression for such a long time and really, she did not give a damn to discuss a read on me with others, try to push/pressure me anyhow. Just being a potato, prefering to argue with her townread.
Well, at least I can be confident the two of you aren't paired.
(I'll probably get pushback on this, but I actually think the fact that she didn't bother to plan out progression posts with regards to you is more likely town-indicative. I find that scum are generally more aware of the need to justify their own pushes with 'valid' progression, whereas towns are more likely to just throw out reads without caring how they look. Of course, there are always outliers to that, but generally speaking, I find scum more self-aware of their public image than York is showing here)
3. No, that comment on Cal was not quite clear. But this is another comment where you have appeasing people who thought about lynching her (Michelle, Cal).
Right... but... what else is there to do from *either alignment* when somebody is thinking about lynching you?
The options are:
Town-read the players pushing you
Scum-read the players pushing you (and be accused of OMGUS)
Ignore the players pushing you
Now, if you want to present the argument that scum-York is town-reading the people thinking about lynching her to prevent us from using her posts for town-spew analysis after she's revealed, then yes I can understand that maybe that's a reason for scum-York town-reading Cal and Michelle. But just the fact that she's town-reading the people who suspect her is not AI from my point of view.
I don't understand why responses to me and Cal are so disproportionate. I wasn't saying about lynching York, like Cal did, but I got such a insolent response for normal questions towards York.
I can't speak for York, but if I'm being asked questions by somebody I feel is potentially scum, then I'm going to be wary (and possibly less polite) in answering them, because it's going to be in the back of my mind that I'm being set up in some way to look bad further down the line. So even though York didn't express sus-progression on you, I do think her disproportionate response to you is inkeeping with her world-view if she thinks you are possibly scum and Cal is more likely town. In this case, it isn't the questions that you asked, but the fact that
you are the one asking them.
To sum it up, this d1 was pretty bad.
1. Most of effort spent on arguing on townreads
2. Placating people who wanted to lynch her (Michelle, Cal)
3. Not pushing her scumread at all!
D2 she starts with this apologize post, which I have already commented on and I did not like it.
And this is also pretty contradictory. It's continues the pattern of York's narrow game - who are these other suspects? She refuses to give names.
Instead she says it's me... who actually talked about her and 'had it out for her'. Because I was talking about Jan with her.
So York says suspicious people are these the ones who should be talking about her, but are not, but all she offers is my name which actually talked about her. The heck?
And I would understand that someone can sus me, but look at the read on me. It has zero progression. I could understand if I went from scumread to townread to scumread in York's reads (due to even sheer volume of my posts), but I'm sitting there as 'main scum read' since second hour of the game (sic!).
That's why I think that York could be scum who's covering her narrow game with not much progression under some "brash" comments.
You do have some compelling arguments, but I think this might be a case of T/T, where you both have some suspicion of each other and are seeing potential scum motivation in your interactions with each other.
On another note, I have strong feeling now that something is off with the Charlie, RippedCal and York trio and that at least one scum is there.
There were feuds there, with RippedCal going at it with Charlie and it having no followup.
Then RippedCal has made few posts about lynching York in EoD, and York haven't acknowledged it ever since, just threw some vote without elaboration on Cal.
Cal is also not following up Charlie and York topics.
I would expect more interactions to happen there, and now I'm also thinking if Charlie vs RippedCal or RippedCal vs York was some kind of SvS distancing.
I'll have a read around these interactions once I get back from errands.
