Nope. Left wing and right wing dictators are similar in their methods of authoritarianism. Left wing mostly focus on economic models(public ownership) and has the goal of equality albeit mainly in fucked ways. Right wing focuses on national n' social purity and tradition, which describes Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito to a t.
What I say is supported by history. The definitions are accurate because they are also historically accurate.
When events in history doesnt align with one's personal belief system do they ignore definitions and replace them with versions unique to themselves. That's how you get opinions like Hitler being a leftist despite sharing no similarity with leftist ideology(and outright targeting it).

My guy, we already had this debate before. I literally posted a bunch of intellectual articles about how these ideologies have a common origin in the French Revolution and how, in fact, they share more similarities with each other than divergences. What did you do back then? You pretend not to see that wall of text. I'm not going to debate someone that claims "it is because academics claim so" while ignoring academics that say otherwise. You believe what you want. If the US Army had actually invaded the USSR, the history books would be completely different today.
Space and Time make language evolves naturally. Space push people appart and make them create different language practices and time set them in words and dialects.
As a result.. Words are being invented everyday and definition are ever evolving. While it is possible to maintain a coherency in knowledge in regards to topics, historical datas, scientific knowledge, arts etc.. It's IMPOSSIBLE to keep language in a cage.
Dictionnaries are usually meant to do just that : to restrict the usage of words to simple definitions, usually in accordance with the material interests of the people who write said dictionnaries and people who use them to often justify reactionnary and restrictive rethorics
This create a situation where meanings are squatched, lost, invisibilized, restricted. Words are often reduced to one or two definitions, usually bad ones without the contextual information that are needed to understand them.
