this is my biggest indicator of a brief pause, as the situation has truly de escalated. Meaning I highly doubt we’ll see Imu back next chapter and if we did, there was no reason to de escalate the conflict

The optimal end result would be Imu shows up and beats them and maybe Shanks shows up to help them retreat and Imu kills him => Gives Luffy a reason to go after the WG and Imu himself. But I know none of this is happening in One Piss.

I don't hate the old gen, imo they're the peak "normal" humans (Roger/Rocks/Garp) can get but Oda has been starting to toy with deity-like characters from ancient times since Wano yet it feels people are still stuck in 2010. I fully expect to see Roger > Imu or Roger > EOS Blackbeard at some point
