Which honestly at the rate everything is going Im half expecting the next arc or arcs to be entirely central on the Yonko and Marines fighting, which means its very possible Akainu and Blackbeard both lose anyway in relative proximity to each other.

This doesnt make sense.
Imu is the reason for the void century and the reason One Piece needs to be used to topple the WG at a certain time. Its why Roger's crew essentially gives up after he finds it.
Thinking Blackbeard has the ability to do this, without ancient weapons or One Piece itself makes no sense and largely circumvents the entire journey. You need to find One Piece first in order to anything against the WG in the end. Thats the point of the series.
All Rocks' death does, imo, is solidifies Blackbeard's possible motivations at revenge or power, but it doesnt mean he'll succeed in anyway before becoming PK. Its probably the reason he WANTS to become PK

This wasn't me or us, it was Oda that basically built the lore reason behind BB killing Imu. And I too thought Imu was the big bad 100%.

EOS Zoro's role will be reduced to that of Sado, condom's backround cheerleader.
