One Piece kinda reminds me of James Cameron’s Avatar.

Avatar is the most viewed movie triology, but has had basically no influence on the culture (can’t even think of a single meme from it, and most people can’t even remember the names of any characters besides Jake Sully and Neytiri). Meanwhile, there’s like a million popular memes from Endgame alone.

One Piece may be the most watched anime, but it has had a relatively low influence on the culture when compared to shows like JJK. Hell, even Invincible is used more often in anime memes, and it’s not even an anime

Luffy is literally one of the most recognizable anime characters in modern day. Like hell there’s a reason why the macys parade only features pikachu Goku and Luffy in terms of anime characters.

Meh. One Piece never sold globally like that compared to Naruto. Oda himself said so in an interview.

If it ends with Naruto, the kids today watching JJK who already don't give two shits about it wouldn't even know it ever existed.

I only ever heard One Piece was really big in France.

It’s big in China and Vietnam, visited those countries and there’s a lot One Piece merch and shit. It’s most likely a big rage in a lot of east and SE Asian countries. And yes, it’s big in France and probably Germany.

I get it from a hype perspective of reading the manga weekly, it was fun, but aint no way that shit is in top 5 of one of all shounen battles for me

One Piece is like Roger. Whereas Naruto is Xebec, we already saw when both of them were alive at the same time who was running the show. It's easy to act tough when top 1 ain't around anymore.

Where do you live? In North America in the mid 2000s it was by far One Piece in 3rd place. No one I knew watched it, everyone was on Naruto, and Bleach was fairly popular here too.

I bet the tv numbers back this too. I guess the 4kids dub is also to blame a bit.

It was dogshit. The fact that this is a hot take is sad. JJK art was never great but it was shit on a screen during late stages.

gege can genuinely not draw for shit. god bless him. hes a fun writer and hes ok with panel comp but his inking is the dogshit worst ive ever seen in a major published manga. it makes attack on titan look drawn well. a lot of those chapters are just straight up scribbles

One Piece has crossed over into pop culture..
