That being said, I don't think Omen/Maki has nothing to do with black blades. Both Mihawk and Zoro are depicted to be "non humans" and Omen is described as "demonic energy."
It's possible that you can only forge black blades with Omen. Obviously, Imu's doing it with ease cuz he's build different but it is definitely an achievement for top tiers to do it as well.

It explains why Xebec, Roger, Shanks, Fujitora and so on never forged their blade black yet Aramaki still managed to perform this feat cuz in comparison to other admirals, Aramaki seems much more malicious.

Black blades can still be a very powerful PU considering it's being forged due to demonic energy.
