Mostly a stamina thing though, Luffy still needs several days when he got badly hurt after a boss battle.
Gotta love how Gaban saying Shanks captured Loki without context is the proof he got beat in a 1 vs 1 but Gerd (a doctor) saying it would take him months to recover was a lie.. just because?

In all fairness to Gerd, she said that about Loki who was still chained in seastone which we know saps energy and halts devil fruit abilities. Cause when she said that Gerd/Hajrudin had no interest in freeing him

It’s repeatedly shown throughout the series that the people of OP aren’t aware of how quickly strong characters can recover, and Gerd has never seen Loki in action

we were never given any good reason why Shanks would have a significantly better growth than the teenager who just ate a legendary fruit while he lost an arm afterward.

Only one I can think of is that Shanks being a human allows him have faster growth spurts in power than Loki who ages much more slowly.

So basically Loki is young for a giant and was still on the same level of power as he was when he fought Harald while Shanks could have advanced to his prime much faster.

Problem is though that it's still a ginormous leap for Shanks so...yeah.

Technically, Zoro was nerfed A LOT in pre ts.
When he fought against Arlong, he was massively nerfed. Post Thriller Bark Zoro was also very nerfed due to his injuries + Luffy's pain.
