The Boys

Only because GOT was actually a masterpiece up to S4 and still fairly good up to S6 for a TV show, the build up was arguably historical, the show literally had mass gatherings every week in the later seasons and, the hype was beyond anything i can recall when it comes tv series up until that point , so of course the downfall was historical as well lol

The Boys on the other hand peaked at freaking S1 lmfao, from there it got worse every season.
S4-5 are just slop.
Yep, GoT was a generational success, people just had lower standards for the writing of the boys, which is why the backlash isn't as relatively severe.

Let's be real, we've all just been waiting for Homelander to snap and commit genocide, but they couldn't pull that of :josad:
I read each episode had 12 million budget, as much as GOT's later seasons + almost a decade later with technical advancements...Yet it looks like some cheap afternoon show lmfao..
Because Kripke is a dumbass who can‘t separate his political views from ruining the show. He struck gold with a generational villain like Homelander that was fueled by Antony’s performance. I’m not watching any spinoffs from this hack lol

Not checking to see if this has been discussed yet, but what was the point of pretending like Marie and the other Gen V characters were going to play an actual role in taking down Homelander? They spent two entire seasons of a companion piece to this series hyping her up like she was singularly capable of bringing him down, and then she just…doesn’t do anything but give Starlight an ego boost before fucking off to Canada with the also-rans? I honestly didn’t have many problems with how the rest of the finale went (although this season was a tiresome slog at most points), but that felt like such a waste of time and narrative building :lawsigh:

They’ll be in spin off series most likely.

Most accurate reaction to this dogshit ending, I didn’t even realize how strong those gen V motherfuckers were (didn’t watch the show) and they weren’t even utilized. 😂😂😂

Kripke, you’re a dog and you should drop the boys IP immediately if you have shame. Can’t believe this guy has the audacity to keep milking this series after ruining it.

Which is a total crock of shit; they just go from one spinoff to another while having virtually no impact on the flagship program, no fucking point to their existence without a third season of Gen V…unless they somehow become the main characters of the Mexico show (not sure what will take them that far south after heading north, but this franchise clearly stopped caring about telling a cohesive story right after season 3 so they can make up any excuse), they were just completely fucking useless. I know the main show shafted pretty much every female character except Kimiko, but it’s still depressing to see the myriad wasted opportunities to stick the landing just because they wanna expand and fully become the same kind of endless content producers as the Marvel overlords they originally sought to skewer :willight:

Don’t get me wrong - outside of Marie, all the other Gen V characters suck shit and wouldn’t have been able to do anything helpful against Homelander even before Soldier Boy’s indefensible decision to give him V1, but, like…they didn’t do ANYTHING?? Half of them never even made an appearance?? WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THEM AT ALL?! :kaidowhat:

Ya i didnt understand either . The script was purposely tonned down and became sloppy for some reason.

I get the feeling Amazon wants to distance away from Boys series and lot of Anti Trump tone may have caused this reason .

Yeah, Bezos breaking to the right probably put the writing on the wall for the production staff…still, there are at least two spin-offs coming after the two we’ve already gotten and plenty of potential for more (I can feel in my bones that Kripke would foam at the mouth to write a dirty sitcom parody focusing on Mother’s Milk and his reunited family); as long as people put eyes on the other installments, the franchise can easily go on forever without the original show…which is exactly the kind of soulless corporate mindset that they mocked pretty effectively at the start :risisweat:

I think this show was absolutely ruined because they ironically got too greedy and tried too hard with the political parody aspects of it, which is admittedly a little funny given how the show is about a shitty greedy company that needs to be destroyed.
I really don't believe things like Homelander being a Trump parody should have gotten further than a few gags, and this isn't me seething and foaming at the mouth like "Erm... How could they EVER mock MY glorious president??? Don't they know he's done so much for us??", because I also despise him. But at the same time.. You can't just let that type of thing hijack your show lol. It just makes it feel more like a power fantasy than a real show.
And so many characters are incredibly dissatisfying. They either do nothing or do something but don't have a satisfying conclusion.
I think The Deep should have suffered more. Far more than Homelander, imo, since unlike Homelander there's really no valid excuses for The Deep being such a dickhead. I get the idea behind an octopus being the one to kill him considering the whole "Haha he seriously fucked an octopus before and had feelings for it" thing, but I don't care, he should've paid the ultimate price for his crimes.
Also Starlight throwing him into the ocean is like throwing Sakazuki into a volcano. One of the dumbest things I've ever seen someone do in a fight, I swear you could almost call this a form of misogyny if the male characters weren't equally stupid in some ways.
And I hated that scene with Frenchie's ghost appearing to help Kimiko out. But by this point I lost all the drive I had to rant about this show, so, that's all I'll say here.

Most Gen V characters are stronger than most of the Seven lol

the v1 stuff served no purpose anyway
meaningless macguffin chase

Big deal…everyone in this thread is stronger than the Deep; A-Train’s only claim to fame is being faster than everyone until his knees give out; I truly do not remember a single hype moment for Queen Maeve; Translucent got taken down by a powerless Hughie and a pre-Compound V Butcher; the only competent one is Black Noir and even he (both the original AND his replacement) became a dunce after a while. If these were supposed to be the most powerful supes in the series, then yeah, the Gen V kids could shit all over them…which makes the fact that they did literally NOTHING in the main show that much more glaring :few:

Not the only thing that ended up meaning nothing, but frustrating nonetheless! Kripke and crew might have honestly been better served by following the comics more closely, but that guy never met a dick joke he couldn’t ram into the ground over and over and over and OVER…he thinks the audience shows up just to hear Soldier Boy talk about fucking every pinup model from the 1940s or Butcher call everyone a cunt instead of, you know, the actual storyline :kriwhat:

Most important part.
The characters and show itself became more and more flandarized with each passing season. Season 1 Homelander would make Season 5 Homelander (and Stand Edgar and Homelander and Soldier Boy etc) cry just by existing.
The show just became a walking case of "let's outedge ourselves in every minute of an episode". Dick jokes, diccks being frozen off, crawling inside of dicks, 50-word tumblr/reddit one liners that would get you rammed in a locker in real life (or even worse, ignored completely).
