General & Others What's a criticism of One Piece that's often overlooked?

Nobody in the story was ever really hunting poneglyphs except the Straw Hats. Sure, Law and Kidd got some rubbings, but this happened when they were allies.

Note: Crocodile did attempt to have 1 translated by Robin, but he wasn't intending to find all of them. He was just looking for clues about Pluton.
They Are smart and know they arent the mc anyway so…why bother :Garp_Laugh:

Odas treatment of Usopp, people tend to overlook it because its happening to Usopp and lots of people hate him, but his treatment of Usopp is a gateway drug. He's already abusing amd neglecting other straw hats and its only going to get worse
At least he had him stand up to Imu, pretty ballsy thing for a wimp like Usopp to do. But yeah Oda needs to utilize Usopp (and honestly the rest of the crew as well) more

Also, the humor in OP is very hit and miss. I said it before (I think in the OP unpopular opinions thread), but a good chunk of the comedy is just characters repeating the punchline of jokes that even a toddler would've already understood. It feels extremely redundant and sucks all the life out of these jokes since there's always some dumb fodder character going "hurr durr that's hypocritical for sanji to call absalom a creep when he peeps on women in showers!!!" as if that's not painfully obvious.
I don't even get why he always has some designated peanut gallery characters just standing by waiting to make idiotic comments.

One criticism that I have almost nobody else will have is that Luffy is a generic archetype. Most people think he's a unique pirate. WRONG. He's a pirate monk. That pirate monk behavior is over the top, obvious, and a cheap plot device if you ask me.

The Straw Hats, mainly Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, don't want to teach the others abilities that could be beneficial to them in the long run. For example, Usopp unlocked coo Haki but has no idea how to use it.
Back then Usopp help Nami become stronger by making the clima tact.

Now we know brook has a great ability that zoro can learn but he won't because it doesn't fit his style.

Silhouette piece.

Silhouettes are nice... once in a while. Oda spams them.

Another one is Kishimoto once commented that Oda's style of writing is repetitive due to the geography of the planet. Go to an island, defeat the bad guy, move on to the next island. Boring and uncreative.

It mirrors a tower ascension theme where it just goes up to the next level each time. It may as well be a Mortal Kombat ladder in that sense.

The art. Oda clearly has been deteriorating in this department and should've gotten someone else to draw the manga while he focuses on story and writing. It would also be better for his health.

This is something I used to see criticism of but not lately, likely because we just got used to scribble piece.

Unsaid criticism: Kid should've had more plot.

Law had a ton of plot. He, like Kid, were introduced as the equivalent captains of Luffy. It's pretty disappointing that Shanks dogged him.

In fact, Kid was portrayed in the middle wasn't he? That should've indicated he was a force.

Did... Luffy twist his head around in this video the same way he did in G5? That's weird (54 seconds in).

Compare what happens at like 47 seconds and compare it to what just happened at 54 seconds in the last video. It's the same shit, guys.

The pirate & adventure related thing. No treasure hunting, sea battles, exploration, etc. It's not present despite the series is about pirate.

Secondly : It's the repetitiveness (arc formula), very overlooked and people intentionally avoid this.
That’s why I really enjoyed Jaya and Skypeia. I really felt a sense of wonder and adventure. Plus the Strawhats leaving with all that gold was just *chef’s kiss.
