Yeah but like, how? Brook was on a musical pirate crew and yet their instruments didn't immediately turn to shit despite being constantly surrounded by the briny elements.

I'm surprised their economy ever got off of the ground to begin with. The fuck do you mean their instruments can't handle a maritime environment? The entire planet of One Piece is a maritime environment, you literally can't get away from the sea in any capacity.
