The problem is that nearly all Portuguese players still see Ronaldo as a role model and national idol.
There is frustration ofc when he walks over somebody else's chances like with Bruno this game. But they still use him and his achievements as a measuring stick for themselves. Like it or not he is their biggest legend and a player nearly all of them grew up watching.
The people that could MAYBE knock some sense into him are his former peers/legends that were there when he started out in the NT - Figo, Pauleta, Pepe etc
But the only real difference maker is Ronaldo himself. And as long there's something left to prove he won't stop trying, for better or worse.

However, it needs to be said and underlined that Portugal's problems don't boil down to Ronaldo bad at all. Roberto Martinez is a known trash manager who already ruined one golden generation of players in another country. Portugal's whole game after the first goal became a let's-get-it-over-with ordeal with no vision behind it
Ya Martinez is an odd duck for sure . I think he is just lucky to be this long . I think people like him because he is diplomatic and doesn't toe the line.

Ya this is the biggest problem he is a legend in his country . Also his fandom trolls hell out of these player if they dont pass him the ball .

Maybe his mum can see this through and tell him to hang up his boot and let someone young take the baton.

That's a long time ago. Everything he did after that was bad.
I think some football federations want "tameable" And yes-men coaches

Martinez is the perfect guy for that.

He's very lenient and soft. He's the type of coach that is very quiet in dressing room

When a Portuguese player did a very bad pass and gives Congo free throw in, he was clapping like a proud dad. Pep or Klopp would've shout in anger

That is the role of National team coaches they should be cheerleader , tactical mastermind dont work out in National tournaments . Thats why Southgate, Joggy löw had decent success they are good man managers.

Guys like Tuchel , Conte wont last long they have huge ego and will likely leave if they dont get what they want.

He forgot how his career ended. This guy cheated against Ireland and was part of the team that embarrassed us front of the World at Ksyna. He was absolutely dogshit in that worldcup and went to MLS after that (at just 32 years old).
He's good footballer and i think it ends there.

He got very toxic attitude. In his late days, he was basically running a dictatorship at Arsenal and compelling everyone to always pass the ball to him which is why his current criticism of Ronaldo is very hypocritical

Yeah in France he was very polarizing influence and deeply insecure of Zidane. He was actively lobbying his Arsenal French Teammates to soft boycott Zidane.

This got so bad that Zidane actually retired after the trash performance at Euro 2024.

When he actual had the team built around him, France was still so shit to the point of begging Zidane to come back for World Cup 2006.

Zidane carried the team to final and when he retired for good,

Henry took it to shit level again.

That's what kills me, France under Henry as main character was so shit that he had to cheat against fucking Ireland to merely qualify to world cup.

Reborn

Throughout Heaven & Earth,I alone am d Honored One
It doesn't change the fact that Henry has bias against Ronaldo
He could be biased but most of his criticisms like everyone else doing it from past so many years is on point.

And, there hasn't been any improvement on this regard.

Ronaldo in past 10 matches in major competitions

Has scored 0 goals
Has only 2 assists
On an average he creates only 2 chances for 90 mins he plays
He took 33 shots and only 11 were on targets.

His heat map is like what I shared which means he spends most of his time standing and waiting for the ball with minimal involvement in the buildup and even then he's struggling to finish.

This has been going on for a long time now.

You can either keep on being fixated with calling pundits biased or take criticism to learn and improve to shut their mouths with performances.

And, it's not like Ronaldo himself is the only issue. Portugal as a team and management are part of the problem as well.
