I won't call him trash. He's a legend and I respect what he did for football and for fans.
I just don't overrate him. He's not even the best goal scorer of all time because Messi based on goal/match ratio is above him even in this regard while being close to his overall tally.
Benzema, Jose, Casemiro, Zidane, Ramos, Marcelo, Rooney, Scholes, Giggs and so on - they all played or coached Ronaldo against Messi yet they all consider Messi an entirely different thing.
I remember their words clearly - Jose - Messi is the best in our generation. One on One against Messi, you are dead.
Benzema - if you criticise / hate Messi then you don't understand anything about football.
Casemiro - it's impossible for any player to stop Messi alone. I needed help from Modric and Kroos to do it.

France / Norway ( whosoever will end up first in group) vs third place team of group stage

Portugal / Colombia - whosoever will end up second in this group will face either of Ghana / Croatia
Portugal/Colombia - winner of this group will face third rank team of group stage.
A must win game for Portugal and Colombia next week to have easier path to R16.
Germany vs third place team of group stage
Brazil / Morocco group - Netherlands/ Japan group are tied. Winner will face second rank team of other group.

To be fair, even back then he was helped a great deal by Bale and Benzema, and by the brilliance of Kroos and Modrić. Ronaldo rarely seemed to credit them, which may be part of why several of these players appear to rate Messi over him. His attitude often rubbed people the wrong way, and that’s a big reason he never appealed to me something I think still shows with the current Portugal side.
