Speculations Yuru was one of the 19 Swords but was stolen

Yoru was one of the 19 swords of the original 20 kings/Queens. But it was stolen at some point. And the reason it is considered the "Most Powerful Sword" is because the other 18 swords and their true power is kept hidden.

Or Yoru is just the strongest sword even among the 19 swords lol.

On top of that Gryphon and Cerebrus are one of the swords too given, Figarland will be carrying his own heirloom in the final battle.
What about shamrock then? One of them will be nerfed or imu has given them other family swords.

We already know imu can extend deep covenants to 13 families only.

There is a part of me that wonders if Yoru could be the Missing Alabasta Sword? Supposedly, Lili also had one of these Legendary Weapons. But, her sword might have been lost at the same time that Lili went missing, too. Imu's said that he only has 19 Blades, but there are 20 Founding Families. That Lost Nefertari Sword is out there, somewhere.

Which kind of re-raises the question of what happened to Lili, in the first place? Imu didn't KNOW that Lili betrayed him, so he didn't have any reason to have her killed. And Cobra said she never returned home after she left Mariejois. So, something ELSE happened to Lili, and her missing legendary sword. So, where did she end up? Blasted upward to a Sky Island? Sucked under the sea? Is her corpse waiting for the Strawhats at Laugh Tale?

...I'm not sure it totally makes sense for Yoru to be this Lost Nefertari Sword. If only because, if we want Mihawk to be the one who turned it black, it'd be weird for him to do that with a legendary sword from ancient history. But, I don't know, I kind of like the visual of Lili wielding this huge sword. It's kind of fitting in a "concept-art Nami wielding a huge axe" sort of way.

Of course, there is a notable alternative. Mihawk DOES have another blade. That little cross-necklace blade he fought Zoro with WAY back on Baratie. It'd kind of be funny if the giant sword Yoru was actually a red-herring this entire time, and Mihawks REAL legendary sword was this tiny thing he keeps around his neck. It's not likely, but I don't hate the idea. And Lili having a cross-necklace could actually be retconned into the reason why the World Government logo is also a cross, because of Imu's "crush". (Yes, bro really made this the symbol of his entire worldwide organization because he couldn't stop staring at Lili's boobs. *Looks side-eyed at the Marines logo* And then he did it TWICE! TELL me Oda wouldn't do something like that, I DARE YOU!)

And, it's possible that we've already seen the Twentieth Blade somewhere else. The Lost Nefertari Sword COULD be that sword that's in Imu's Flower Room. We never did get confirmation on who's sword that actually was. A lot people thought it could be Rock's sword, but I don't think we ever actually saw that. Imu just might not have access to that sword, because Lili never swore allegiance to Imu, so he can't control it. And it's possible that Lili leaving that sword in that area is what actually caused the Flower Garden to grow in the first place, due to whatever special power it may or may not have. Or something like that. There are other possibilities.

Personally, I don't think any of the weapons we've seen the God's Knights use are any of these 19 Blades. This seems to be a Omen-only type of thing. So, I don't think Gryphon or Cereberus are likely to be a part of these 19. I think only the swords we've seen Imu use recently are a part of this. But, I could be wrong.

So, I'm not necessarily leaning towards Yoru being The Twentieth Blade. But...I'm not ruling it out yet, either. We'll see.

The 19 weapons are historical relics that belonged to the kings who founded the World Government 800 years ago. Hassaikai has no such legacy. Kaido built the weapon's entire reputation by himself, to the point that Oda stated it would become legendary simply because it was wielded by him. That puts Kaido on a completely different level.
Put anything in Kaido's hands, and he'll turn it into a legend.

Where?
Did I miss something? :quest:
Yeah, Sommers was actually the one who said it, but still.

"The 19 Kings who forged our World!" "The 19 World Weapons...they were all laid to rest THERE!"

Mind you, I guess there IS just enough wiggle room here to say that maybe they aren't counting Imu or the Nerona Family's Weapon in this count, since Imu is...different than the others. So, MAYBE Imu has access to all 20 Weapons?

But, for now, I think we can assume that the Nefertari Blade is not in Imu's collection, given Lili's history. I think that would make the most sense. But, there is room for some interpretation in all this.

Of course, the reason why he said 19 is because Imu didnt lay his own to rest in front of the throne but he definitely has access to all 20.
And perhaps even more, from Joyboy and who knows who else...

Would seem a bit odd for a family from a land with an Egyptian theme to have their sword be a German design.
Yeah, but it seems like the 20 Families are going to be kind of oddly mixed and matched with their weapons, from what we can see.

I mean...why does the "Rimoshifu" Family have Longinus? "Rimoshifu" is...vaguely Chinese-ish. With "shifu" meaning "master". And "Rimo"...possibly coming from the Tibetian or Indian for "mountain"? So, the name translates to "Mountain Master", probably. And Longinus is the name of a Roman soldier from Christian traditions. There's NO connective tissue, there. If Oda was being "culturally" consistent, the Xiantian Axe would have made more sense to be the Rimoshifu Family's Weapon. Even Killingham's Kirin Fruit has more Chinese-inspired origins!

And the Shephard Family getting Gram? Gram is from Norse Mythology. "Shephard" is really more of a English word. And given the whole "sheep herding" sound of the name, THIS is the family that you'd probably expect to get the Christian-themed Longinus. If only to tie everything together with Jesus, as he "tended his flock". Plus, again, Sommer's Thorn Fruit would just work better, thematically, with Longinus. Given the whole "Jesus wearing a crown of thorns" thing. (But, maybe Oda was specifically warned away from doing too many Christian parallels in the story by his editors, given how the west can be, so he had to move things around?)

So, I don't know if there's actually going to be any rhyme or reason for which family gets what weapon. All these cultures and names might just be mixed together.

Which...might actually be thematically relevant, up to a point? In the past, all these cultures used to be mixed together. And they only got separated and categorized as being distinct after the fact. Kind of like how, over time, divisions were created between cultures and races. Like the rift that formed between Humans and Fishmen, or Long Arm and Long Legged Tribes. Everything used to be one culture...until everyone got separated, by time and by the sea. I could see Oda maybe playing a bit with that.

...Or it's just rule of cool. And he thought Killingham looked cooler wielding a spear, rather than a axe. It's hard to tell what Oda's highest priorities are, sometimes. Sometimes, he has really deep thematic reasons for his choices. And...sometimes not.
And perhaps even more, from Joyboy and who knows who else...
Well, we KNOW that there are also Divine Weapons on the table. So, Weapon Piece is only just getting started!

Like the War God's Hammer, Ragnir. And Nika's Sword and Shield. (And maybe his Spear, if Oda isn't retconning that into someone else's weapon via the Chapter 1138 Mural)

I WOULD say that I'd expect that ALL the Gods probably had at least one weapon of their own. But...we really haven't seen Zaza the Rain Goddess use any sort of Weapon, yet. So...maybe some of the Gods didn't have Weapons? Who knows?
