Anyone sane would think it's just a wound caused by the ACoC application Gaban was talking about. Imu might remain wounded for a little while and give a window of opportunity for Goofy and Loki to do better against him.

Gaban didn't choose family over adventure. Which is to his credit, he did wait until the journey had completed before starting a family. But it's a little different from other cases with characters who have not achieved what they set out to accomplish.
Yasopp is the biggest example of benign selfishness, but the story isn't making him out to be bad. It's arguable that Usopp wouldn't be the man he is without his circumstances and he's not even resentful thus far
